14. in a pick up game who i would take first is Russ. he wanted to win more.

i grew up watching chamberlin in phila, first as a warrior then 6er. the battles he had with russell were the realized myths of titians to a kid like me. i go back far enough to have seen them play at the old convention hall.

chamberlin was the best player to ever play. he was a single man machine whenever he wanted to be, except when russell was on the court.

kareem is probably not considered the best because he was a black man who converted to islam in the '60s and the press turned on him (along with that pussy sucker punch he pulled on hap harriston).

but the next guy afer Russell i would pick if i was about to walk onto a court...in his prime, without injury is Walton. he was second in big man d only to russell, could shoot and pass in the pivot like no one else. he also had a more competitive drive than chamberlin or kareem.
