Question on interview thank you note follow-up?
My wife had an interview today for what was a pretty good job. She had all the experience they were looking for - import, dealing with overseas vendors & overseas legal issues, supply chain, etc - except that she works in a different line of business & is not familiar with the company's products. My wife works in a business that manufactures women's clothing accessories & other products and interviewed at a division of a large corporation that manufactures electronic products.

The hiring manager seemed to think that experience with their particular type of electronic products was very important, but my wife wanted to emphasize in her thank you note that her other experience is equally important, if not more so, when dealing with overseas vendors. She had mentioned some of it in the interview, but frankly, she was in bed sick all day yesterday and was not 100% at the interview and not thinking as quickly as she normally does.

How is a good way to bring up the importance of her other experiences without making it sound like she forgot to emphasize it due to illness?

thanks

1. Maybe say something like
"I would like to reiterate that my experience with oversees vendors, etc., has been very valuable to the many different employers for whom I have worked" Or something like that.

2. thanks
I just want to make sure that it's appropriate to put in a thank you note.

3. Oh, I definitely think it is appropriate.
I learned during a resume writing class many moons ago that refreshing the interviewer's mind is always a good idea.

4. Maybe make mention that one of her priorities in a new
position is to learn the product inside and out?

5. oh she will
she went from working in the oil industry to working for an electronics distributor to a company that makes portable garages & awnings to her current company that makes women's clothing accessories. She's done very well at them all, so I have no reason to doubt she'd would not succeed there, too.

6. It's appropriate - and anything else she would like to highlight
but don't get too wordy :-).

7. that is the key
My wife has a world of experience, and I'd like to help her trim it down to a couple of short paragraphs.
