Why would an employer write back to you saying you're not qualified? |
|
I met their schooling requirements, as stated on their requirements list, and have accumulated 12+ years of experience.

2. If they're going to say no, I'd expect the truth. I rechecked their sheet |

and there's no way I could NOT qualify. I am utterly bemused by this turn of events.
Maybe my resume isn't worded right.
I dunno.
Or I'd prefer no response... no I wouldn't. I'd call, find out via voice, and then get frustrated anyway...

3. Sometimes you can get knocked out by being overqualified. |

7. Maybe... I need to sit back and simmer down first though; |
|
this is one hell of a blow for me. You can't begin to imagine.
Maybe it's for the best.

4. You are lucky that you didn't get that job. Imagine what it would be |
|
like to work at a place that would send out a rejection letter like that.

9. excellent point. They definitely don't seem so worker-friendly... AND |
|
they may have had to go through one hundred or more applications and felt I was #101.
Which is sad.
In high school, I was 77th out of 450. Top 20% despite the horrors I had to endure on a daily basis and I am not using the term loosely or in a melodramatic way... And not that those figures mean anything either, I mean look at who our president is. :eyes:

5. I got a letter like that after I interviewed for a job |
|
It didn't exactly say that I wasn't qualified. It said that they had chosen to hire someone who was better qualified. Did your letter say something like that: That they had chosen to interview or hire candidates with better qualifications or something of that nature? In my case, I probably was overqualified which is why I was less qualified. It might be your case too.

You won't work for entry level slave wages. Therefore, you aren't qualified.

8. The pay was 35-47k/yr. |
|
Maybe I am overqualified and, in this country, they prefer cheap labor over good labor. And I'm a damn good laborer and I've a strong work ethic. You think somebody would want to take advantage of that.
I was never asked to write in a salary requirement.
I even volunteered a cover sheet (something I rarely do because, a job is a job and I do the best whereever I go. Period.)
