Poll question: Blue Collar Beers: Your Faves |
|
Some of these are gone but not forgotten. I am drinking a Blue Collar Beer right now and I do it quite often.

36. In college we always had Bud |
|
but when I had my summer job in "The Mill" we used to go across 8th Avenue and have "Two Irons and two sausages and fries" -- Iron sure went good with those Homestead sausages. :)
Love them Bucs - and Steelers - and Penguins - (and Panthers, Tartans and Dukes) and Rege Cordic and "Frothingshlosh Pale Stale Ale with the Foam On The Bottom."

Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere on the East Coast.
Must be a Chicago/Midwestern thing.

33. What is Lone Star in Long Neckers? |
|
I was in the service with a bunch of guys from both Texas A&M (my Commanding Officer was an "Aggie" - a damn fine gentleman and a fine engineer) and Prairie View -- and they swore by "Lone Star - but it's got to be in a Long Necker".
Goes great with Tex Mex food.

19. UAW represents workers at Miller breweries in some places. |
|
The UAW represents workers at Miller breweries in California, Wisconsin and Trenton, Ohio. The union, however, doesn't represent workers at other breweries in the United States.
I figure if it is MADE by union brothers and sisters it is a product for me or any other blue collar babe/union maid.

32. I remember that from my days in the Syracuse-Binghamton-Scranton |
|
area. Is that a Scranton beer ? Or York?
I haven't seen outside of the I-81 Corridor (but then again, I haven't really looked for it).
My nephew in Philadelphia likes it.

Can I be honest with you? I always liked Schlitz. Not the Schlitz Malt Liquor shit, but regular Schlitz Beer ("the beer that made Milwaukee famous.")

|
They said they didn't make Schlitz any longer. I just took their word for it. But there it was, in the cooler, big as life, not 24 hours ago. Maybe that will be my next beer purchase!

Yep, just like John Kerry (allegedly) did, I throw back a few Ribbons from time to time. But now that I'm older and wiser(?), I drink a particular brand of Light beer more often than not.
