Clogged central vac line HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
I dont know what I sucked up, but the line going from my wall to my central vac in the basement has something clogging it. I've tried to stick a hanger down the hole to see if I can dislodge whatever is clogging it (probably cat hair from my calico) and I didnt feel anything.
To boot.. my son accidentally dumped his popcorn all over my living room floor and this is the only sweeper I have UGGH!!!!! If I wasnt training my dog to eat people food or food that fell on the floor I'd let her go to town on it. She already has this bad habit of trying to get whatever is on the counter or table (got chicken bones at one point).
Ideas? :)

I thought you were talking about a clogged central IV line. I have to quit working at this hospital.

Between the kids spilling everything on the floor to my cats sweeper clogging fur and the 'oh god what the hell is that' hiding behind the couch I need something heavier duty than this central vac.

6. Once you have the vac, get the lid to a butter tub |
|
cut a hole in it, stick the lid on the clogged hose/duct, attach Shop Vac hose, and suck like your name was Jenna Jameson.

7. No snake.. thought of it and by some unknown reason I dont have one in my |
|
well stocked garage :) The whole problem with this is that the thing it plugs into is into a 90 deg angle after the hose hole.
Spend $600 for a stupid vac that is supposed to be GREAT and cat hair clogs it :/

10. This might sound weird, but... |
|
is there any way you can put your mouth around the wall "outlet" (or whatever you call the thing) and blow the obstruction out?

11. I had this happen a while back |
|
I'm finishing my basement, and got the vacuflo connection in early so I could suck up the crap easily. A little too much crap, I think the pink fibreglass insulation did it. Luckily, I still had the old canister vac, and sorta like the above suggestions, I wrapped lots of masking tape around the end, so it formed a nice tight seal. Sucked the gunge right out! Quick and easy? Not really, it took me about a week to think of it. :(

|
I tried to 'sweep' the popcorn off of my carpet with a regular broom and it didnt work too well. I like the versatility of the central vac, but when it goes down BOY do things happen!

16. Check the filter in the canister. It may need to be changed, but for... |
|
an immediate 'solution,' you can rinse it out, leave it outside overnight to 'air out,' and reinsert it.
