So I forgot another bad thing happened this weekend...
A dog showed up at the cabin, we get dogs all the time up there... but this one had a 30 chain tied to its neck and was as skinng as can be. It's ear was messed up and there was a wound on its neck.
I assumed it had broken it's chain weeks ago and was now on its own. I gave it some food, but hesitated to grab at its neck or anything because of the wound.
It left suddenly after almost taking a biscuit from my hand. I also hesitated to grab the chain for fear of the neck wound again... so it disappeared.
I'd hoped it would come back for more food, but it did not. I called the SPCA then went looking for it without any luck.
A woman told me she thought someone up there had lost their dog and she said she'd phone them. I hope it all worked out.

1. If you see a dog dragging a chain, if you do nothing else,
you get that chain off so that it doesn't get itself tangled up in a bush somewhere. Its chances are not good.
