Don't you love it when your call to user support is taken in India
or somesuch distant land, and there's a 3 second delay in the conversation?

My computer went loopy after doing its weekly Norton updates last week. I didn't have time to deal with user support until today. The call took twice as long as it should since I couldn't understand what she was saying half the time, and the delay made our words bump into each other before we realized the other person had started talking. :argh:

Oh well.

I'm back.

Did anybody miss me?

1. I never had that problem
but I only spoke a couple of times with HP support people. No problems with any delay.

You know, I just don't like that word - delay. Guess why?

3. Just wait until you get an Indian chick named "Bob"...
... with a very poor understanding of the English language.

4. That reminds me of a call to American Express
I received a replacement American Express card in the mail, and as with most credit cards, you have to call a toll-free number to activate it. In my opinion, if I can get through it without speaking to a human being, it's a painless procedure. Just when I thought I was done activating the card, I was told they needed a voice verification to activate it, and my call was very obviously transferred to India. It was bad enough I kept asking the Indian lady to repeat herself because I couldn't understand every single question she asked, but she asked me where I used the card the most, and I one of the things I mentioned was Internet shopping, and as it turned out, "Internet" was some sort of magic word, and she kept me on the phone for like another 20 minutes trying to sell me "amazing" card-member only deals on assorted Internet and technology related crap.

Sorry folks, I just had to vent.

9. That and how I love it when "free" support has so many limitations...
that it isn't free at all.
