Had a wonderful Gay Pride/Father's Day Yesterday

Had a great Father's Day/Gay Pride day on Sunday. Dad and I went to Baltimore Pride which is free. There was this great band called Disapear Fear, which the leader singer/songwriter is from Baltimore. They are all lesbian folk rock and I love that genre of music. They sing alot of anti-war songs including "No Bomb is Smart." What was really a treat was to see a new Baltimore hard rock lesbian band called "The Damsels." The lead singer of the Damsels did a great impassioned version of "My Little Secret" by Melissa Etheridge. What is great is that my dad, who is straight, was with me and liked it a lot, too. There was a couple of men there in electric wheel chairs with signs that said, "This is our 50 anniversary!" Please continue to hope and pray for gay rights...

1. Sounds very cool
I like that part about the 50 year aniversary. I marched in the first one in Seattle, in the seventies. I'm straight, but even back then I knew gays were having to carry a heavy burden of injustice. I was a street kid at the time. We were hearing just whispers of this new infection--now of course we know it was AIDS. I knew many very damaged kids downtown, who had to leave their families, rejected, kicked out, resorting to prostitution because of their sexual orientation. To the best of my knowlege, most of those kids are now dead. God bless you and your Dad.

2. God bless you too! Heterosexuals like you and my dad
really understand what problems gays face for discrimination and what not. Thank you for supporting gay pride in Seattle and supporting gay rights before I was even born! :yourock:

3. You betcha!
And my support continues! Not to mention I've raised all my children to be supportive also. And that feels good.
