Looking for Advice: How do I get readers for my blog?

Hey, all. You might have seen my (I hope not spam) Four Lights postings on General Discussion. I started a new political blog called Four Lights. It's no Bartcop or Dailykos or anything great like that just yet, but I'm trying to post regularly and provide quality commentary and information.

I'm just not sure how to develop a readership! I've posted my blog updates to DU in GD, (the "Four Lights" posts) for discussion, but beyond that I'm not exactly sure what to do. Does anyone have any suggestion of how I can get a readership? So far my site has had less than 100 unique hits. How did Kos or Bartcop or even our Skinner start out?

2. I use the Lefty Directory as a gateway for all the left blogs.

Send them an email and see what happens.

5. Comment at Kos, etc. with your link

Comment thoughtfully on the posts on those blogs. You include your home page with your comments on such blogs. In your case, it would be the link to your blog.

That should get you a few hits, anyway. And it could snowball from there.

11. Blog your ass off...

It's allot of work. Not only do I post to my blog, but I also post to Kos, DU, GNN, and BuzzFlash Mailbag.

I find that there's more work involved in generating traffic than in actually maintaining the blog, which is allot of work in its' self.

Also, start a Blog roll,(use blogrolling.com). When you add blogs, drop them a note and ask them to link back.
