Anyone notice how hostile geeks have gotten (re: sf/fantasy films)
Throughout the 80's and early 90's, many of us practically extolled sf/fantasy films that, admittedly, weren't much to write home about("Ladyhawke," "The Goonies" "Jurassic Park"). You take what you get, I suppose.

Now, we've been blessed with the first Star Wars film since "Empire" that actually warrants deconstruction; an absolutely superlative comic-book adaptation ("Batman Begins"); and the masterful LOTR trilogy (a gift from friggin' Heaven), and all we do is tear each one to pieces! It's gotten to the point where the critics give higher praise than fans.

How sublime does a production have to be, exactly, for you to enjoy the bloody thing?

P.S. Vader bellows "NOOOOOOO!" because he is a 23 year-old burn victim who was just fitted into an iron casket and found out he was responsible for the deaths of his wife and unborn child (what, did you expect him to say something cool?); the ending to "Return of the King" is 20 minutes long because the saga spans 11 hours.
