7. No, that's from me
My point is that we must work hard to make a world that is safe for stupidity. Too many, such as the compilers of that list, want things to be serious. I've had enough of seriousness. We need stuff to be ridiculous. The Caddyshack quote, or Caddyshack in general, is a proud example of silliness we need so badly

I can't believe that neither of my favorite quotes from the "Princess Bride" didn't make it.

25. Most of the "Quotes" miss the point--
A really good quote makes sense out of context.

Most of the ones they picked don't make any sense unless you know what movie and in some cases what scene the quote is from. *sigh*

I just knew they'd do that. They can't do anything of quality these days.

26. Do the Pulp Fiction quotes in the 400 seem weird to you?
That movie is packed with good ones... but they chose
"Bring out the gimp" and
"they call it a royale with cheese."

Those seem like odd choices.

And Spike Lee shouldn't really get credit for "We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, the Rock landed on us" from Malcolm X, since that was actually from a speech of Malcolm's. It is a great line though.

No Kevin Smith!
Nothing said by Edward Norton!
No "How 'bout them apples?" from Good Will Hunting!

34. AFI missed a big one: Henry Fonda/Tom Joad's moving covenant at the
end of Grapes of Wrath: "I'll be all around in the dark. I'll be everywhere, wherever you can look. Wherever there's a fight so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad. I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready and where people are eatin' the stuff they raise and livin' in the houses they build. I'll be there, too."

First runner-up: "Seems like the government's got more interest in a dead man than a live one." Tom Joad

Second runner-up: "If there was a law, they was workin' with maybe we could take it, but it ain't the law. They're workin' away our spirits, tryin' to make us cringe and crawl, takin' away our decency." Tom Joad

40. Several of them were easy to guess. Of the top 10
I guessed long in advance on about 6 or 7 of them.

At least one of my favorites made it, although it should have been much higher than it was:

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!"

41. I only guessed 2 of top 5, but I nailed #1... glad a 60 yo movie still
counts.

I thought there was a good mix of old and new, including Jazz Singer. Too many times, classics get neglected. Maybe a little too much from Casablanca. But this show was really about good scripts and Casablanca is one of the best. If you haven't seen Chinatown, the program had the Mother of All Spoilers in it...
