I just got a call from the U.S. Army!

They wanted to know if I would be interested in their career opportunities.

They _must_ be getting desperate because 1) I'm 30 years old, 2) female, 3) totally out of shape (could NEVER make it through boot camp without 6 months of training first), and 4)less than halfway through a years-long graduate program (and they knew I was in school because the recruiter mentioned it).

I think I feel a draft in here...

It tapered off when I left college (7 years ago), but in the last year it has started up again. It goes straight in the trash can.

3. Call your congressperson

and complain. The local Army recruiters began harassing my older daughter as soon as she turned 18. And I mean harassing, with early morning phone calls and a bad attitude that we were "unpatriotic."

I sent a letter to our Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Maryland) about their tactics, and we've been left alone for the past 3 years. They haven't harassed my younger daughter, now 18, either so far.

If our military wants cannon fodder for this senseless war, go recruit college Young Republicans, the children of rightwing religious nuts, and Jenna and Barbara. No more of this "let's you and him go fight."

in 1991 when BUSHIT 1 engaged in war my son was 5 and i'll never forget driving home and hating saddam and that war (putting so many people in harm's way). now my son is 19 and registered to kill or be killed, this time the stakes are so much higher and we are on our own (no international support). i think of this everyday and for what a revengeful war initiated by BUSHIT 2 !!! my boy is a gunho type of kid, served in the CAP and is very familiar with things relating to the military. he's all against this BUSHIT 2's war. but what do ya do if your number comes up??? wrong war, wrong time and for the wrong reason...
