Queen wins £1m rebate

The Queen has won a £1million council rate rebate after she claimed she was overpaying for Buckingham Palace.

Senior aides launched an appeal against Westminster council which they claimed was charging them £200,000 a year too much in business rates.

After a battle lasting "several years" the Queen finally won the appeal.

The huge refund was revealed in accounts published by Buckingham Palace today.
