I'm writing a Batch file, can someone help me?
I've created a Batch file that's setup to run on my pc at 4:30am. The Batch file runs fine when I'm at the computer but it doesn't work if my computer is in the locked position (This computer is in use and has been locked. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to unlock this computer.)

Is it possible to run a .bat if my pc is in this position?

1. just test it out
make another batch file that's just set to echo text at, say, 12:30.

2. its should still work if locked
it probably wont work if your computer goes into power save mode though

i assume you are scheduling it using "Scheduled Tasks" in the control panel

you probably need to go into "Power Options" and make sure the machine isn't hibernating

3. I assume you're running it as Admin or a superuser?
You may want to make sure the account that's running the file has sufficient permissions. I usually run them as administrator just to make sure I can do what I need to do.

Of course, all the linux/unix-heads will tell you to NEVER run anything as root, but fsck 'em. This is a windows box, right?

4. Depends on which version of Windoze you use
Since you can lock your machine, I assume it's Win2x or XP. If so, just go to Accessories, then System Tools, then Scheduled Tasks. Run the wizard and browse to your batch file and then schedule it to the desired time.

5. I'm using Windows 2000...
and I'm using Scheduled Tasks for the batch file. I still have the problem of the computer locking itself after 15 min. of inactivity.
