1. A guy that doesn't want any politics mixed in with his show, and thinks
that Bush might be more likely to sign on the whole relieve African debt idea if he isn't called an asshole between songs?

Just an idea.

Bush, of course, is still an asshole, and Geldoff is sorely mistaken if he thinks Bush gives a rats ass about his concert.

38. I don't know
Where was it that I heard that Cheney and co were trying to keep Bono away from Bush for filling his head with...actual thoughts? Was that just a rumor?

2. He has always been an arrogant prick
Although I was glad he did Live Aid, he was a smug prick anyway. His band The Boomtown Rats had a hit in 1980 or so with a song called "I Don't Like Mondays", and he achieved even greater fame playing Pink in Pink Floyd's "The Wall" movie in 1982.

Then he did Live Aid in 1985, and has been full of himself ever since. Saint Bob indeed (as many called him).

36. That is so sad. I guess I never saw that story on this side of the
pond. At least not that I remember. I feel horrible for those children. Not only because they lost one or both of their parents to suicide, but also because they named them things like Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, Pixie and Tiger Haarani Lily.

Can you find a link or something?
Not to stick up for Bob Geldof too much, but he has done his fair share of humanitarian work. If he wants to concentrate on helping other human beings and not put georgie in the spotlight, then that's fine with me.

I did a mini search, but didn't see that.
I guess he doesn't want to alienate anyone from what he is trying to do.
Thanks again for the link.

39. Irish rock stars in particular don't seem to age well.
Seen Van Morrison lately??

Adam Clayton's looking pretty old too, for a guy in his mid 40's. And even Bono ain't the "Boy" he used to be.

Makes me wonder what Phil Lynott would look like today. I'm guessing Keith Richards with a darker complexion.

that still doesn't fucking give him the fucking right to fucking tell people they can't fucking bash Bush.

Remember the fucking Tsunami?

The only reason Bush gave fucking money was because people were fucking bashing him.

28. Actually, if I was him, I would do the same thing
he doesn't want to alienate anyone---he knows what he wants to do---aid impoverished people---he knows how to catch flies (with honey, not vinegar)

He wants to get as much support as possible, plus he wants to encourage Bush to pledge more aid money

I think it is smart to keep politics out of this. People who dislike Bush aren't just going to start loving him if no artists at the concert throw out some verbal barbs about him

37. Encourage the chimp to give more aid?
Like he's given very much in his almost 5 years in 'power'? Anything * gives is with severe strings attached.

I doubt if what any performer says or does at this concert is going to make any difference to * % Co.

32. I kinda actually sorta see why he's doing it.
It isn't what the concert is about. He doesn't want to alienate people who could help the cause. If I were him I might have done the same thing, and no one hates Bush more than I do.

40. I don't see Roger Waters obeying that rule
Geldof should be kissing his ass anyways. It's PF that gave Live a massive dose of publicity. Millions will be tuning in just to see their set.

Bob Geldof kind of looks like the character Pink now, someone who's been living in a hotel room strung out in front of the tube.
