They are so sweet too. How could someone dump a pet in the country and then drive off?

2. I hate that.
I used to work in an animal shelter and around late April through early June we would always have dozens of little dogs brought in. People bought them as Xmas gifts and when they weren't little anymore and required some effort to take care of them people would dump them at the shelter.

I hate people sometimes.

7. I've had them for about three days now.
And I have been trying feverishly to find someone to take them with no luck. I can't keep them because my dog doesn't get along with other dogs.

If I can't find anyone I the next few days I am going to have to take them to the shelter. Hopefully I can scrape up enough money to sponsor them so they can't be put to sleep.

The sad thing is that they are so close and if I take them to the shelter the chance they both would be adopted together is very slim.

10. Depends on the shelter ...
I've seen listings for shelters in my area that specify that animals must be adopted together. You can check here for the shelters in your area:

11. How about asking some friends here LIA?
Give a vicinity of where you are and think about having people pm'ing for further inquiry.

I have two big dogs of my own and am in California so Im probably not much help.

It would be nice if they could stay together. They obviously are family.

Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

:)

13. I've thought about that but...
... I don't know where I could post it where enough people could see it.

I would have to bump the topic constantly.

6. Humans can be so cruel. I just want to scream.
Please do not take them to your local shelter as they may be euthanized. Try to find homes for them. Go to YahooGroups.com and search for an animal rescue group in your area. You can list them on the message boards and they will be posted to all other animal rescue groups.

Are you in the South?

When I was young beagles were real popular in East Texas.

Great dogs.

They like to talk and in the country that can be a good thing when you're not expecting company :)

9. I've never understood how people can be so callous
To me, taking on an animal is no different than taking on a child - I am responsible for its health and psychological well being and will be until the day it dies. Pets are not disposable, they are living creatures with feelings and needs and they are NOT just automatically able to take care of themselves.

I used to live on a farm and people would drop their cats off there - cats that had lived their entire lives as pets suddenly faced with a life of scrounging and desperation in a barn full of other frightened and feral cats. It broke my heart and since it was not my farm, I was limited in what I could do - feed them and try to find homes before they got too wild, or had too many kittens, or were killed. :(

Those two are adorable. Little happy trusting faces - makes me so sad.

14. ooohhh cute
do you think democrats or republicans own them? Just cuz it seems more dems own cats. Do you think they were abandoned and not just lost? Could they have wandered off from your neighbors? Do think people who drop off pets think they are giving their pets a chance to be found and cared for by someone else, that the dogs might live off the land, they might join with other mongrel dogs and run in a pack, they might starve, be run over, not gassed by the Humane society, what can they be thinking? Poor dogs. I hope they are found by someone looking for them who just lost them somehow.

15. I'm pretty sure they were dumped.
We have animals dumped out here all the time. I know my neighbors and none of them had any dogs like these. Just guessing from the fact that they are two sisters and were extremely skinny when I found them, I would say that they were dumped.

It's just the impression I have.

I say usually most people who dump animals are self centered assholes who can't handle the responsibility of owning a pet. Once the responsibility starts to outweigh the cuteness on the animal they just want to get rid of it. They don't care what happens to it good or bad after they dump it.
