I burned a pan of cornbread.
I made some cornbread to have with dinner, and I completely spaced it. As soon as I got done eating, I smelled the charred mass still going in a 425 degree oven, and ran into the kitchen to pull it out. Black. As. Coal.

On the upside, it *looks* like a pan of brownies.

8. Just the kind from a mix tonight.
Serious cooking's mostly for weekends with me, I wasn't feeling like doing anything requiring any serious cleanup today.

11. seriously I bet you are a good cook
my h is a much more adventurous cook than me, he loves to make stuff from Indian and Thai cookbooks and use really good spices from this cool Middle Eastern deli he goes to. They also have great big bags of bhasmati rice. ( yum)

14. In my defense: the box said 400.
My oven's really old, and I get correct results most often by kicking it up a notch; The markings on the knob no longer reflect the correct temperature, I suspect. The problem was leaving it in for well over an hour and a half because I somehow became a fuckin' space cadet.
