16. The Adam West version captured the Dick Sprang era Batman.
I think it gets a bad rap- the old Shows & movie really capture the comics "innocent" years better than most of the movies mentioned here.

The Adam West version of Batman is best half-an-hour at a time.

And I do not.

the movie captures comic panels better than anything I've seen- my problem is I never liked the comic!

which I thought was pretty good, particularly the beginning. And I do like the way he reinvents stuff. I also read the Dark Knight series, I belive, but that was ages and ages ago.

22. I do like "Year One" pretty well and some of his Dare Devil...
...but overall his work is too cynical for my tastes- I prefer escapism in my comics...

I dont care for Dark Knight- Batman as a cynical, killing torturer(Basically a Sin City character) never did it for me.

48. Comic books and graphic novels are synonymous
but I don't think Sin City had super heroes. If we were just going off of comic book/graphic novel based movies Sin City would be number 2, behind Spiderman 2, and American Splendor would be in the top five.

The League of Extraordinary Gentleman is still the worst of them all, worse than Batman and Robin.

9. I voted Batman Begins
but Sin City is THE best comic book movie (not quite a superhero movie but almost). It is quite literally like visualising a comic book for two hours.

36. Yeah, it's pretty good (and pretty dark).
Batman Begins is the opposite of Sin City as it takes a comic book and makes it almost realistic. It's a sorta coming of age drama about a young billionaire...

12. The first Superman tops them all. Not Sin City because...
While I agree that Sin City looks like the comic, I never liked the comic in the 1st place- and I cant stand Frank Miller. If I want Libertarian comics I'll read Steve Ditko's Charlton material.

The 1st Superman wins b/c it exibits the myth, scale & humor of the original comic.

19. . I dont like Superman killing the villians at the end...
...or going back to the bar to harm the human who picked on him.
Superman would never do that.

I dont like the "defenseless" Clark Kent either- he was never defensless whenever he lost his powers in the comic.

All of these things are at odds with the myth.

I know- I know- nit picking- but that is why I do not prefer #2 to #1- it took all these liberties, while #1 tried to stay truer.

25. Good points all around
I guess, just as a movie viewer, 2 was more exciting, but I can totally see that the original is closer to the original story. It (1) also felt more comic bookey too, which is sometimes an atmosphere difficult to capture.

I'd love to see Watchman be properly made (development hell, anyone?) and I'd also love to see the current series of Batman films end with a proper translation of the Dark Knight graphic novel.

I thought it had been shelved, however due to production problems. I'm certain it's going to be ruined sadly.

ON EDIT - some info about the Watchmen film.. could be dead but might just be resting.

49. Interesting question
M. Night has said he intended to make two sequels to Unbreakable, I for one wish he had done that instead of Signs and The Village.

I believe Watchmen is slowly eeking out of development hell if the internet rumor sites are to be believed. Alan Moore has recieved such shabbu treatment in the conversion of his comics to film that I am hesitant to see Watchmen come to life on screen.

had good design and effects, and Stallone even looked good as Dredd (until he took his helmet off). They also spoilt it by making the film into a mishmash of several storylines from the comics, which spoilt the continuity and chance to make a sequel.
