HEY ASSHOLES!!!! STAY OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!!!! |
|
(and yes, that did need to be in CAPS)
One of my biggest pet peeves is stupid people who drive in the left lane knowing good and well their slow asses should be in the right lane! BASTARDS! The only acceptable time to be in the left lane and driving slower than the right lane is if you're making a turn. Otherwise: FUCK OFF AND DRIVE FASTER DUMBASS!

water, no matter how fast they are going. My faves are the ones in the fast lane who are zooming along and don't look ahead to see the slower traffic, then slam on their brakes at the last minute; instead of changing lanes to one that is still moving, or just adjusting their right foot a little and matching the speed of traffic.
Ohio was the worst though, people stopped before turning right into parking lots that weren't on a corner...middle of the street....stop. turn at the speed of molasses in January.

|
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 07:06 PM by fleabert
I was stupid and invincible at the time...I probably averaged 90 on 10, and then I hit Houston, and had to shoot across six or so lanes of stopped traffic to get in the correct lane, which was moving at the speed of light. I went faster in traffic in Houston than I did on 10, I remember hitting 105 and cars were flying past me like I was standing still. I was scared shitless, and never went that fast again!
I made will-call though, and it was a great concert.

|
We're one of the handful of states that legally permits people to cruise all day long in the left lane. You can only be ticketed if you're "obstructing traffic", but the CHP NEVER tickets anybody for obstruction if they're at or above the speed limit.

at least in Texas there are signs saying, "keep texas moving, slower traffic move right" I have seen a few that say 'slower traffic keep right" but no one pays attention to them. Everyone also seems to have broken blinkers, because they never use them, and they pass on the right. INFURIATING!

|
Three lanes, three cars, ...one speed.
We don't have left lane laws either, and in MN drivers ed they really don't teach new drivers to keep the left lane clear for passing, either. So, naturally, the worst offenders are newly-arrived immigrant taxi drivers who do 55 in the left lane, no matter what the rest of traffic is moving at.
And since Minnesotans are naturally polite, we don't honk or blink our lights at them-- we just sit five feet off their rear bumper and tailgate them.

I've always thought of that as a good & environmentally conscious thing by not adding another vehicle to the roads until this one is no longer viable... No?

My commute involves about 50 miles of two lane road. Most of the time it is ok, but in the spring and fall, the tourists come in droves to look at the elk. They STOP in the MIDDLE of a state highway, and just sit there. Sometimes there's elk, sometimes not. Usually they are all crowded in one area, so I know when to be on the alert for them.
Funny thing is that, since I travel the road daily, I know where the elk are and when is the best time to find them (usually not where or when the tourists are around). If these people weren't so darned obnoxious (there are turnoffs for them to park, plus wide shoulders on the road, but many don't take advantage of them), I'd give them some pointers on where to find the elk.

In my Tennessee county we have the national walking horse celebration every August. Have you ever heard of the Smokey Mountains? How about Memphis and Beale Street? How about Nashville? There is fan fair for country music fans every year- and Bonaroo south of Nashville during the same week. Chattanooga hosts the south’s finest aquarium and many sights to see. For civil war buffs we have hard fought ground. Stones River, Shiloh, the battle of Franklin, the battle of Nashville, Hoover’s gap. Touring the Jack Daniels facility is a real treat. The Natchez trace parkway is a wonderful drive all the way from Nashville south to deep inside Missippi. You will hardly see anyone else on it and no commercial traffic- it is a true "park"way.
I doubt I have covered all the tourist attractions in my State. In all fairness what State are you in?
On edit- didn't know you were kidding KFC! Sorry!

Dammit, I stay in the right lane to stay out of the way them. With what is going on in other parts of the world and this country fighting for oil :grr: why arent we doing more to conserve what we have so that we can be less reliant on that part of the world. I burn no more gas going 75-80 then I do driving 65. The only time my gas mileage goes down appreciably is once I get into town off of the interstate. Kinda wish I still had my car from college, it got better gas mileage in town, but I had to pour in a quart of oil a day.

|
Because of the left lane cruisers, who refuse to move for ANYONE (sometimes including ambulances), people are now shooting over to the emptier right lanes at 80+ mph. This is causing many a wreck, and death.
So if you are in the left lane... and somebody wants to go faster than you... and you can do it safely...
MOVE THE FUCK OVER!!!

61. Most fast drivers are the safest out there. |
|
It's the slow ones that don't know what they're doing that cause wrecks because their dumbasses are going 40 in a 70 mph zone!

what if the right lane's full?
If you're in such a hurry, leave 10 minutes earlier.

63. Most of the time it isn't. |
|
And in that case, I couldn't be mad. And if you're feeling the need to be slow - why not move over to the right lane and scenery watch from there?

If I'm doing the speed limit, I don't gotta move. LOL
Are you one of those punks in a little wannabe pick 'em up truck, weaving in and out of traffic?
Jeb vetoed some crazy bill where people were going to be *required* to move to the right lane if some guy behind them decided to haul ass. He said it just gave carte blanche to speeders.
I agree, even if he is DUH-bya's bro.

72. The speed limit is one thing. |
|
But once again - most people don't do the speed limit, they're much slower. I still fully believe that slower traffic should keep to the right. It's just common sense and niceness damnit!
And nope. I'm neither a punk nor do I drive a truck. My car isn't souped-up and normally it's not blasting music. (Okay, so most of the time it is).

77. Unless you're on the Interstate, |
|
there are people slowing down and pulling off both sides, so I just get in the lane that's moving. Unless I have to turn soon.
I have to have music. It's required.

94. Wow, I thought Jeb allegedly was the "smart one" - |
|
FUGGEDABOUT DAT! So now he thinks it's the driving public's job to enforce the speed limit on the highways? Illinois just passed that law, but a recent trip convinced me they need to start enforcing it a little more stringently...

I can't fucking stand brides that make their whole wedding party miserable just because of their anal plans. Weddings should be a celebration to honor your family and friends for putting up with your love-sick asses the whole time.

79. We Should Model Our Interstates After German Autobahns |
|
And it should be illegal to pass on the right. And it should be illegal to poke along in the left lanes UNLESS you are going FASTER than the folks in the RIGHT lanes.
The LEFT lanes should have MINIMUM actual speeds and MINIMUM relative speeds.

86. They should also LEARN WHAT YIELD MEANS!! |
|
Some idiot who probably got their license yesterdayat Walmart, failed to yield to traffic coming off the ramp and nearly hit me. The only time I have ever flipped someone off while in a work vehicle. I know I shouldn't have but she was so fucking ignorant. I only wish they could actually hear me screaming at them. Can somebody invent a horn that, instead of making a noise, shouts obscenities, like "get out of my fucking way you stupid piece of shit driver!"
I also nearly got involved in a head on collision yeaterday whensome jackass in a beer van decided he needed to pass someone tying to turn right (Despite the double solid line indicating a no passing zone). Stupid jackass.

95. Its awful here in Missouri |
|
People will actually stop after going through a cloverleaf and wait for an open spot on an INTERSTATE! There are so many cloverleafs here you think people would know what to do. When you have to merge over, HIT THE GAS!
Then there are people who drive so slow that the cars are stacked up behind them like a train. I don't do anything rude like honk my horn or flash my lights, but I (very carefully) tailgate them.
Missouri sucks even more in the winter. It snows here every winter so you think people would learn "hey I have to slow down in the snow." Nope, you see so many accidents on the highway in winter because people still think they can drive 70 in a snowstorm.

97. Our main road is elevated, like a freeway |
|
With on/off ramps that are too close together. So a person getting on to the freeway can come very close to those coming off. The people on the frontage road, though they are geting on the highway, are required to yield to traffic coming off. It is a very poor design but that doesn't mean people don't have to obey the signs.
