that the Canadian Parliament votes on Bill C-48. What is that you ask? Well, it's the SSM bill. And it looks like it will pass! Yah! Equality rulez!

Edited to add: C-48 is the budget vote. C-38 is the SSM bill. If one passes, the other will as well.

2. C38 vote is next week, yeah?
C38 is almost certain to pass, isn't it? Some asshole Liberals might break ranks and vote against it, but the Bloc is supporting it and will out number them, yes?

5. If C-48 passes
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 11:13 PM by Canadian Socialist
it will be the first "NDP budget" ever. It's a win-win situation. If it passes, Canadians get a budget w/over $4 billion put into social services. If it fails, the government falls, and the NDP very might become the "Official Loyal Opposition" because the cons voted AGAINST social services. However, if the government falls now, C-38 will not be put to a vote. Bad. So, it's become rather exciting up here.

7. You mean "if C48 passes"?
Wasn't the healthcare system the result of a similar compromise between the Liberals and the NDP back in the day? My history is really bad.

8. Yes, I did
I just keep getting mixed up between the two. Both are so dear to my heart, that I want BOTH to pass. Also, Kokanee super cans. Just saying.

9. It'd be easier to keep 'em straight if the ones digit was different.
Since it looks like they'll both pass and Harpers numbers have plummeted, it seems this minority government is working out pretty well.

3. O Canada! Our home and native land!
Well not my home or native land (though I've thought about it for 4 1/2 years) but very cool.
