What's a Gris-Gris bag? Not that it's important --- after all, it's the thought that counts.

we ate at Emeril's and took the dinner cruise on the Natchez. We were only there for 3 days.
Of course, had breakfast at Cafe Du Monde and had a "muff" from the central grocery.

Again, we're helpless tourists. Had a "couple" hurricanes.
I've been to Halloween at Ohio U. and some other pretty crazy places but nothing could have prepared me for Bourbon Street....
Like going from little league to Yankee Stadium

I've been several times, and even though it is a party town, there are some other wonderful things to do there. I usually go to party though!!!

21. Does a republican lie when he is not sleeping? |
|
Typical New Orleans July weather. 90 degrees, 90 percent humidity with a 30% chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Dress for comfort. Very comfortable shoes, sunscreen and if you are in the quarter and someone wants to "fine" you because you are not smiling enough, tell them you are a local and keep walking. They'll try to force you to contribute to some cause for a ballcap.
Eating recommendation: The Alpine on Chartres down from St Louis Cathedral. Excellent food, excellent service, not pricey and you don't have to dress up.

35. We lived in New Orleans when Charles De Gaulle visited in the early |
|
1960s(?) and my wife, who has a memory that would shame an elephant, swears the General's seconds called Galatoires for a reservation only to be told Galatoires does not accept reservations. But you don't understand: this is for President De Gaulle. The reply was something like: you don't understand sir, Galatoires does not accept reservations. She recalls De Gaulle's seconds standing in line for him. I can't vouch for the veracity this yarn, but my wife swears it is true: Galatoires was our favorite restaurant at the time.

My husband's from New Orleans. I love going there to visit. We always eat beignets at Cafe du Monde! The cathedral is beautiful. The tour is very interesting. Did you go to the Audobon Park Zoo? The zoo is outstanding! Did you go to the Aqaurium?

Biggest mistake in my life was ordering soft shelled crabs (Actually I've made far bigger mistakes). We were a Pompano Joe's in Destin Fla. I'd never had them before, I've had about every other kind, and i do love crab. I ordered fried soft shelleds, when the arrived, the looked like fried Tarantulas, when i bit into it, it felt like a fried Tarantula. Couldn't take another bite. I had them bring me Dungeness instead. I just couldn't handle it. Ordering them fried may have been the mistake.

There used to be a restaurant in Lacombe, LA called Billy Farrell's. I had the best soft shelled crabs ever there. Delicately fried and topped with a creamy shrimp sauce. Mmmm! :) I loved grilled oysters, crawfish and deviled crabs the best, but soft shelled crabs are yummy too!
LOL! They do look like fried tarantulas!
