I am so over being fucking SICK
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 11:33 AM by Andy_Stephenson
Being in the hospital...having nothing but clear liquids 3 times a day for 4 days...

I hate being in pain and the hospital has more roaches than a roach motel. I am so ready for this to resolve one way or another. I have tried to be strong...but I just don't have it in me anymore.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Andy

Edit: Who must I sleepwith in here to get 2 fucking tylenols?

13. Keep a positive attitude.
I know it sucks. I spent 6 weeks in one after a motorcycle accident. It'll be over sooner than you think. Keep lot's of good reading material on hand, and give the grouchy nurses a hard time, but be nice to the good ones.

We had a real nasty one, reminded us of Nurse Fletcher in "One flew over the cuckoos nest", we called Attilla the Nun. All the rest were pretty good. We'd send out for Pizza or Chinese every night, and made sure we fed them too. One night Attilla was missing four patients during her bed count, and found us all in a poker game on another floor. She demanded we all leave immediately, but we told her there was a lot of money in that pot, and we'd leave after that hand was over.

She was gonna call the police, and called the other nurses in to be witnesses. They all told her,"We don't see anything". Boy, was she pissed. I always had to wait a little longer for my Demerol shot when she was on duty after that.

So, take it all in stride, and I hope you have a complete recovery soon.

14. Fuckin bummer. Some days will be that way.
I have been fighting chronic pain for years. What gets me by is remembering that feeling bad is a lot better than feeling nothing.

If you feel bad, feel bad. If you need to cry, cry. Tears are terrific pain killers.

Try focusing on what makes you happy.

Think six pack and tight buns. ;)

Or maybe an plate of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh wait, that is my fantasy.

anyway, stay strong.

32. Eventually, I hope to have a real budget and employees.
I am working on a major network to get the contract to archive them. If that comes through, it will come through with some investment from a third party, and real office space, a DS-3 line, and some modern equipment. (White Rose runs on OLD iMacs and an couple of ancient refurbished PCs.)

The business plan in that eventuality has me hiring a junior full-time employee for the 5 PM to 1 AM shift. And eventually another for the 9-5 shift. I am thinking of a kid with computer savvy looking for some work experience before moving up and out. Somebody who never had a chance at college but who is bright enough to pick things up on their own. (And I would encourage them to attempt to improve things, and to surf and learn during work hours.)

29. ain't it the truth. you should have seen the places my Mom was
going till i begged, borrowed and lied her into a decent program-- "not accepting new Medicare patients". I once found her wandering three floors away. She was as slow as a turtle and had a heart attack the day before. Lunch was by her bed, her IV ripped out, but no, they weren't looking for her. There was no staff to do that. Seriously, that's what they told me. Never again.
That's how it works if you don't have smeone tenacious to advocate for you.

You should try the freeper slam (well it is actually a polar bear and a penguin) and just imagine it is you slamming nasty vile vampire freepers and trolls.

My father taught us to imagine the person that was irritating us the most as being the golf ball, we would then be allowed to swing at them and relieve our frustrations. It actually helps out tremendously. Give it a shot, I am sure there are some you would like to take a swing at!

Have great day! :pals: Hugs for you too bettyellen!

58. Hints & a link to a game to pass the time.
For the temp I suggest what I'm sure you've been told perhaps too many times. Deep breathing and coughing. Be sure to use a pillow to hold firmly to you incision area as a splint. Then do your deep breathing and coughing exercises. Also you should have an incentive spirometer (you know the funny looking thingie that you're suppose to be using to inhale with and you can watch the volume of air.) Use it!

I've seen temps drop at least one degree with simple interventions as coughing and deep breathing.

If you like the late Douglas Adams and his hit, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" you may enjoy the game(s) here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game.shtml

Take care. You have a lot of great friends cheering for you.
