an onLine friend who's been on another 'tour' in sunny iraq, finaLLy popped in after an extended absence; we were worried - even when he's over there he stops in once in a whiLe for a quick hi.

he Left a poem, and a short note:

"Hi Guys;

I am reduced to speaking in poetry becasue I can't actually tell you how bad it is here. We are going to withdraw, collapse or start a draft--this army, so structured, can only go one more year at max at this pace."

That was a pretty scary statement!!!!

that statement is just so jaw dropping; it's one thing to hear simiLar statements by pundits, and such, but it's Like a punch in the face coming from troops who are there.

6. Do you know where he's at?

I just saw a buddy of mine who was over there for a year or so. He said it wasn't going that badly from what he saw, but he's been back for 6 months or so and was stationed in the Green Zone in Baghdad when he was there.

So he might have been seeing a rosier picture during his time there.
