Land of the Dead, social commentary about the haves and the have nots
Here is a link to the AICN review:

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=20569

I LOVE the original Dawn of the Dead! It is my favorite horror movie ever made and possibly the smartest horror movie ever made. I loved Dawn because EVERYTHING that the god guys do makes sense. All of their actions are strategic and well thought out and btw they kick ass. Well, Ramero has returned to the genre that he created and has made Land of the Dead. In Day of the Dead the zombies are learning, in Land of the Dead, it's 20 years later and we finally get SNIPER ZOMBIES!!! Take that stupid Dawn remake!

Apparently Ramero makes all kinds of social commentary about the haves and the have nots and how zombies are really just a metaphor for the third world poor.

Deep stuff, I can't wait to see it!

Yay! Sniper Zombies!!!

1. That looks like such a crap movie.
Sorry to rain on the parade, but they were advertising it as "the greatest zombie masterpeice of all time."

Maybe it's just bad marketing, but the whole thing's way too pretentious to me.

2. Have you seen the original Dawn of the Dead?
You're not going to rain on my parade, I love Ramero and I thought the POS remake of Dawn was just offensive.

Sorry but the metaphors of zombies=mob mentality and the added social commentary of zombies being likened to the sub poverty poor are just too good and to true to pass up.

Pretentious? Why does smart have to equal pretentious?

3. Hey, I never said I thought it was smart.
No, I didn't see the original "Dawn."

But the previews for the new movie look like every other cliched zombie movie.

7. You should watch it, the original DOTD, it is awesome!

No, you're just wrong. Ramero is the original zombie movie maker.

His characters are multilayered and smart, their actions always make sense. They are not the idiots that run up the stairs when they hear a bump in the night. These are the folks that grab their guns and get the fuck outta there.

Ramero makes good movies, if you don't mind LOTS of gore and the look of films made in the 70's, please watch it. You will not be disappointed.

8. George Romero is great
I can't wait to go see the movie. I've got the original 3 movies on DVD. I'm going to go see it tomorrow after my ex picks my son up. I could always take my son to see the movie tonight but 8 might be a little young for a zombie movie. ;-)

:woohoo:

11. Well, I haven't seen it I just read the AICN review
that says they start using guns and weapons.

I just love the idea of Sniper Zombies, for some reason it makes me laugh.

Was I the only person to see that episode of the Xfiles? You know, the one with Sniper Zombies

12. Romero is a cinematic genius
The "Dead" series is more about society than it is about "zombies", and I can't wait to see this..

13. I know, I wish that more people understood that about him films
The shopping mall a symbol of American consumer culture and the rednecks mindlessly killing just like the zombies in Dawn of the Dead or the ending of Night of the Living Dead.

Romero is a genius!
