Anyone else terrified to see their water bill? Here is why for me

It is day six of it being used everyday for varying periods of time.

I turn it so the water is barely coming out but it still seems to come out on the slide pretty strong so they are happy.

The kids LOVE IT!

1. We don't have water bills and my kids are too little for that.. We stick
with one of those wiggly squirty fire hydrants.

But that thing you guys have looks wicked cool!

3. I know. There is no weight limit. I climbed up it to fix something they
unzipped but I haven't gone down it yet - but I will.

6. Sure! The only improvement they could add is to make it longer after
you come down the slide. You could keep sliding for a long time.

I'm having to water the saplings and small berry bushes I planted this spring.

Never had one of those.

13. I turn on the fawcett and water comes out
Our water usage isn't metered. I live in an apartment, so I don't pay anything for water. I think the water infrastructure is paid via property tax.

15. Hmmm
I wonder if the apt. complex pays... I think that's how it works here, anyways. Do homeowners pay for metered water use there? Now I'm really curious to know if the system's significantly different there.

29. BC has lots of water
We use hydro-electric power.

We often have watering restrictions in the summer though, if it's been a dry year.

14. I never had water bills in apartments but I have in every house I've
owned - and my parents too.

Doesn't it work that way most places? If it didn't, I think people would waste even more then they do now.

they don't get the concept of $$$ yet.

Yeah... you're in for a shock I'll bet!

Our water is high due to watering our rose garden. Stupid things need so much water! But they're soooooo beatuiful.

11. no water bills here in Sacramento...
weird huh?

fyi, make sure that thing is tethered like a mofo, inflatables have a high incidence of injury.

12. There are anchors for the four corners that I have to hammer into the
ground, plus four to hold the fan in place - in addition to the 40 lbs of water filled up in the bags connected on the sides to keep it down.

It isn't going anywhere but I definitely have to move it every day to a new place so we don't kill the grass.

It is canvas instead of plastic so it doesn't suffocate the grass like last years standard slip-n-slide.

20. Here are some links on inflatables, you may want to add to the tethers.
http://www.rideaccidents.com/inflatables.html
http://www.saferparks.org/are_rides_safe/by_ride_types/Inflatables.htm#rentals

Most catastrophic accidents happen on the type that don't use water, so that does make yours different from most mentioned here.

I have been involved in the amusement industry for many years, and inflatables are viewed as 'very dangerous' in many circles. Safety and risk management types don't like them at all; from a litigation perspective, they are risky to put up.

My advice, keep doing what you are doing (add deeper or more tethers if the design allows for it, and don't let anyone on it if there is any forecast for high winds or gusts. Not that you asked or anything, but... :-)

26. I got it for $283. It was a birthday present plus it is a summer toy

for all of them. I spent more then I wanted but I didn't buy her anything else. The birthday party was at home and they got to play on it.

A bit of a splurge but they are using it all the time.

edit to add - yeah, Walmart. I tried to find it at Target or Toys-r-us but they didn't have it.

I saw it and wanted to get it but wasn't sure how safe, etc. it was, then my Mom called and said my cousin had bought this huge water slide for his kids and the kids were all playing on it and loved it. I figured out it was the same one I was thinking of and she said even the little kids did fine on it so - what the hell, I got it.

Of course, we have two decent-sized rivers flowing through town and we live in a flood plain. I think I'll go overwater my grass now. :D
