I'm starting to plan a trip to New Orleans. Any suggestions? |
|
We're going to go for about four nights sometime after Christmas. What should we see? Where should we stay? Where should we eat? Any good bargain hints? Thanks! :hi:

1. Definitely take the cemetary tour. |
|
As far as accomodations, it depends on your budget, but try to stay at a hotel in the French Quarter.
Brennans for Sunday Brunch is wonderful! :hi:

3. I'd love to go sometime. |

I'll do exactly what you're doing and make a list of places to go, or ask some folks I know locally. :)

4. My mom and sis just got back from there! |

They enjoyed their stay.
Went on a Miss. River tour, a swamp tour, the casino, the zoo. I guess there's this flea market that has some really cheap but nice stuff.
They weren't overly impressed by the food but they're picky eaters.
have fun!

You can get a combined zoo, aquarium, and iMax theater tour for a pretty good price. If you go to the Aquarium separately, it'll put you right near the Casino and the Riverwalk. The national D Day museum is there also. You'll probably want to go to the French quarter, take a look at the cemetaries, and visit a few clubs on Bourbon street. Stay away from Emeril's places... overpriced and not the best in town. Galatoire's, Commander's Palace, Brennan's, Mother's, etc. are the types of places you wanna go to for dinner. Also, get a mufaletta at Central Grocery and wash it down with a Barq's.

Bourbon Street. Architecture. Anne Rice. Trent Reznor. Louis Armstrong. Only New Orleans ever really got the blues, and sex and damn near everything. Decadence made manifest. Oh my gods, the food, the coffee, the alcohol, the sex.
Just let your self go... I envy you.
