80. actually - two years in (and one year in operation)
we just received some good news that might give us security for a period into the future. A lot of faith - and knowing that we have a great Board that believes in our mission and gives a lot of time to us - goes a long way to work through those moments of uncertainty.

It is, for the time being, a great adventure!

One I agree with, but someone else's. :) I think that's why I work on campaigns. I wouldn't mind working for an office holder. Of course, I seem to back candidates that lose. :grr: I'll keep at it though.

101. keep at it - the public sentiment is shifting...
all that you have learned in campaigns will be valuable to the next... and this next one could be the one.

btw, a number of folks I have known who have found great satisfaction... do the job - to enable them to have the resources and time to do the "work" (on programs, or campaigns or volunteer work) that they love and gives them fulfillment.

104. very good show
that has got to almost be harder - in some ways - than a big loss. One of my politcal heros - who died just over a year ago, was elected by 4 votes. After numerous recounts (always with him barely on the winners side) the House of Reps had to vote to seat him (after repub.s then in the minority - tried some antics to get their guy elected) but he took his seat in the Spring of 1984 and held his seat until, I believe, 1996.

118. The real tragedy of redistricting for me was losing this seat.
It was a symbolic "fuck you" from Tom DeLay. The seat of LBJ and Pickle is now a Republican district.

a big "fuck you" in return - due to his plethora of awful and illegal deeds being exposed. That may not lead to the return of the district... But perhpas it is a first step towards that.

74. I know!
I went to a party hosted by Mr. heineken himself ( call me a bullshitter, i got pictures to any asshole who doubts it HAHA!) at the 1982 Floriade. I am amazed that a Dutch co would be red, that's all. i wouyld think they'd be more progressive? But drink em if you must. I won't blame you a bit. it's great beer. American beer sucks

oh shit, i better not start a flame war before I leave for a while :hide:

78. there are a few good Cali beers that I like
such as Full Sail (almost impossible to find in Indiana) and Sierra Nevada (easier to find in B-ton - that in my neck of Indy). I will try to find alternatives. When I was doomed to cheap beers I perpetually avoided coors... I should probably try to do the same with this.

So what is the Floriade?

126. It's an every-ten-years flora extravaganza held in Amsterdam
Yeah, Coors is a bad one too. I was recently checking the status of some of the junk i buy on BuyBlue or some such site and i was really surprised to see Heinies on there..
I've had a brand of Sam Adams I liked and Sweetwater 420 is also a nice flavorful beer, so all American beer doesn't suck...and I've had some decent microbrews, but mainstream American stuff just isn't worth drinking to my elitist self

113. Woohoo my friend, come on in!
Its not quite the concert - but it is some very good company!

And forgive me (its a party and I have had a few beers) - but I saw you recent pic (close to graduation) - (warning - auntlike words about to be spoken) - in my mind's eye I saw your pictures from a few years ago - a little less self-confident (still a lovely young lady) and all I could think at the new pics - is in word and mind - you are so ready to get out there to the next phase. It has been cool to get to "see" you mature - from one who wouldn't express opinions on politics - to one who now speaks up and confidently. As we get older we don't change so much over a period of years... it has been a joy to see you blossom. And you give me great hope for our next generation of women who will contribute to society.

Sorry for the auntlike sentiments. I would be proud to have you as a daughter or neice, and am proud to call you a "sister." (Albiet a much younger one.)
