1. Send the RNC instead.
Their platform is enough to make anyone's head explode.

11. tom was right about Matt not knowing the history of psychology and how
drugs such as ritilan make it make--. I think Tom is a bit over the top but he made good points. and Matt should do a little research before he gets into a discussion with Tom again.

4. That interview with Matt Lauer
Was a real eye-opener. I was actually on Matt Lauer's side for a change, and that doesn't happen too often.

16. Totally dissed psychiatry, counseling...
And anti-depressants, and any psychiatric drugs of any kind. Matt could not get Cruise to concede that sometimes the drugs do help, and counseling does help. Cruise said there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance, and everything comes down to taking the proper vitamins and excercising. What a crackpot.
I took anti-depressants about 20 years ago, and they helped me immensely. I have a friend who is bipolar, if he was not on his medications, he would probably be locked up in a rubber room by now.

7. Geez, that bad?
I know Cruise is an insipid pretty boy, but bad enough to take Lauer's side in a hostile interview?

Wow. Just wow.

18. It was pretty bad.
I'm not sure whether Lauer pretends to be a journalist; if so, he should have been prepared to taken on the world's most outspoken critic of psychiatry. I was embarrassed for Lauer, frankly. Cruise made some good points about too many Americans being medicated, but he refused to concede that psychiatry has helped a lot of people, so he came off looking like an extremist, rather than a reasonable. Reasonable would have helped his cause a lot more than flipping out.

8. What's amazing
is that he has a reputation as being very nice to the people he meets on the street...when he goes out to restaurants, etc... Very Nice Guy, from what I hear.

So he doesn't do well in interviews. <shrug> Didn't know he had to.

What was up with Tom Cruise today? He looked as if he hadn't had a decent night's sleep in a couple of days. Hmmm. whatshername might be wearing him out or is the pretense of a relationship taking its toll.

13. This trivializes the abuse going on at Guantanamo --
and I strongly object. I don't care what you think of Cruise (who IS acting too loony these days), but that kind of comment is beneath you, I hope, and definitely beneath DU.

Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 08:25 PM by rainy
evidence that all disease, mental and physical, is caused by the denatured shit for food we eat as humans. Nature provides us with what we need to create healthy living cells in all raw fruits and veggies. When we cook and process our food we cause abnormal cells and abnormal cell functions in our, before cooked food, perfect bodies. There is lots of literature out there that supports tom's views. But, the pharmaceutical industrial complex would have you believe that half of our children should be on drugs. Hell, they would have us all on drugs.

Cooked food is poison, we are the only animal that cooks our food, destroying enzymes and vitamins.

Until science can use all of their knowledge and make a living cell or a seed that will grow into a tree then I will believe that Nature knows best what is good for our bodies.

Flame away!

20. Tom's only half right.
He's correct that he has the right to make health care decisions for his family based on his beliefs, and I don't doubt that we Americans, as a culture, over-medicate. However, he's wrong to attempt to influence public health care policy in a way that interfers with my right to make my own health care choices. The man has publically declared war on psychiatry and said, in another interview, that he wants to see it "outlawed," just as Jerry Falwell would like to see abortion completely outlawed. In this way, Cruise is no different than Falwell and other anti-choice extremists.
