Post your top three pet names!
Mine have been...

Cookie for a sweetheart all black German-shepard with the cutest ears.

Lucy for the slightly evil fat black old lady cat.

And Major, for the fluffy monstrosity that constantly attacks the local mice and just might of tried to eat our dog.

4. I have had several cats namedToby
and now have a Starvin' Marvin..(most unique pet name we have ever had)

and we had a Tasha Marie III

most of pour pets "name themselves", and then we have "pet" names that have no bearing on their real names too..

Marvin is sometimes BabyBoy, Marbie, OneBaby, Stinkie or Bubbie

7. Aja, Kodi, and Abba

AJA (the First)was also called Big A

Kodi is also called Kodibear, and Beardog

Abba is also called Baba, Babahead, the Big Baaboo, Foolie Dog

AJA (the second) is also called Little A.

oddly a year after my first AJA died, i was contacted by the Kuvasz rescue group, and the 9th month old female that was available for rerscue had been named AJA by her previous owner.

that kind of cosmic connection sent chills down my spine when i first heard it.

AJA is sleeping on my feet right now.

14. Kuvasz?
Are those doggies Kuvasz? -- oh wait, I see from your post that they are. You breed? Own a big sheep farm? They are rare. And what I call advanced dogs. You need an advanced degree in dog to parent one properly.

2 of mine are queensland aussie X's (I call that advanced dog X'ed with intermediate dog)

and a lab samoyed X (yellow stubborn crossed with furry-white-pigheaded)

25. yeap, a single kuvasz is a handful, i have 3 and soon am getting a new pup
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 11:35 AM by kodi
they are unlike any dog breed i have ever been around. many folk think that they are not as smart as more trainable breeds, but that is just because they are headstrong and stubborn and have an innate sense of what they are supposed to do.

you have to be strong willed and an alpha type to own one or they will run right over you. the second AJA i got thru a rescue was raised by a family who had no idea how to train one, and it took months with her to get her under control.

i have an acre and a half fenced in so there is sufficient room for them to play. whenever i am home one of them is constantly by my side. its like they work in shifts to always have one of them guard me.

i have spent countless hours socializing them, and in public they wag their tails and welcome petting from strangers while on a lease. but still, if you walk up to my fence they act like they'll rip your throat out until i tell them to sit. then they wag their tails and quiet down. no kuvasz i have has ever bitten a human.

Aja sleeps on my bed, Abba next to it and i doubt if i will ever be killed in my sleep.

kodi is 12 1/2 years old now, but saved a neighbor's dobie (her buddy) from a wandering pack of vicious dogs about 6 years ago, she killed two of them and was bitten up pretty bad, had she not been so big and strong (150 pounds) the pack (i counted 8 live ones when i got to the fight) would have killed her as they did other dogs in the area that week they rampaged thru the area.

kuvasz are just so beautiful, smart, silly, loving, and protective you have to own one just to appreciate what they are. they just seem naturally to know how to act in pressure situations. there are countless times i have watched them act in a manner so precise, so correct that only breed instinct could have been the cause of their behavior.

36. Wow. They are incredible. I got interested in Kuvasz when we adopted
a 10 yo rescue dog of undetermined breed. (She lived to be 16 BTW.) She was big and white with some curls in her hair. From "breed" books she look alot like a Kuvasz (I'd never met one, so I was curious to see if she was one or a mix) -- then one day I met a Kuvasz family at the Rincon Valley dog park, and . . .

Zoe was no Kuvasz. (Still have no idea what she was.)

But after living on the streets of San Francisco during an El nino winter, and emaciated and orthopedically challenged -- running from the SF dog catcher for 10 blocks according to the report. She finally found a home with us and was happy.

30. My dog hung out in the tub too!
And here I thought it was just some peculiar thing that only he did. Interesting that my dog was about the same size, too... why do giant dogs want to cram themselves in the tubbie???

34. My dogs are happy, but a little chaotic at times in all their happiness.
They listen very well to me, I just don't ask them to supress their joy beyond what is "safe." In otherwords, they know they can't get happy and jump in my 80 y.o. neighbors face, but they can go 3 feet away and jump as high and long as they want.

11. Laughing Gravy, Luna, Pebbles.
Laughing Gravy, my Lhasa, was after a dog in a Laurel and Hardy movie.

Luna was my kitten, who looked like the moon, white with little grey blotches.

Pebbles was my sheltie when I was a kid. My sis loved the Flinstones.

16. I had a cat named Luna.
She was a really, really sweet cat. She was kind of a runt, very small, though, and maybe a little too nice. She disappeared one day, and we think she probably got eaten by other cats.

18. Awww.
Poor lil runt!

Mine was a cool cat. Unfortunately she had a penchant for always wanting to be around my feet. She caused me to trip and break my ankle once. A while back, I started having some bad vision problems related to migraines, so I had to give her away.

:(

13. I don't name pets very imaginatively. . .
So none of these were mine.

1. Myshra (mee-shra) - was my mom's cat many years ago. An Arab name or something. She can be seen on http://mycathatesyou.com.

2. Real Meow - another mom cat, very recently deceased. The story of that name is a long one, believe me. She also went by Ganges.

3. Q-Tip - friend's cat, so named because she, a black and brown cat, has a white tip on her tail.

My gf's cat is named Rain (it was raining the day she adopted her). I'm thinking about getting Scooter a little friend to keep him company while I'm away. If it's a female, I'm going to name her Gogo, after the movie character Gogo from Kill Bill volume 1.

32. here's my list
"Beast" - my Akita (not his real name but that's what I called him most of the time... RIP buddy!)
"Snots" - a friend's Presa Canario ("Drools" would have been more technically appropriate)
"Grunt" - same friend's Mastiff (should have called him "Stinky"... what breath!)
"Shorty" - another friend's Newfoundland (odd name considering he weighs twice as much as I do, and the kids ride him like a horse)
"Boink" - another friend's Great Dane (a tribute to the fact that he humps everything in sight)
"Bird" - my cockatiel (I never could come up with a good name for her, so left it at that)
"Spike" - my brother's cockatiel (and Bird's brother... they were from the same... er... litter?)

I just realized all my friends that have dogs have giant horse impersonating dogs... "those aren't paws, they're hooves!"
