I must say, its my favorite ST movie of them all, including all the movies from both the Kirk and Picard eras. Great story, great acting, and great chemistry between the actors. It certainly feels just like an extended TNG episode, but its still a good popcorn action flick.
Also, I absolutely love the main musical score by Jerry Goldsmith. I can't get it out of my head. I seriously love science fiction WAY too much. ;-)

1. It's definitely up there as far as Trek movies go |
|
That one, as well as Wrath of Khan are the two best.

It is the best ST movie and one of my top favorite scifi movies. I don't remember the music - now I'm going to go rent it again because you mentioned it.
I like good science fiction too - I really like the first StarGate movie

3. YES! Stargate is a favorite of mine too! |
|
Kurt Russell and James Spader were great in that movie. But Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver fovever baby!) really steals the show in Stargate SG-1, which is another excellent show.
And yeah, I love Wrath of Khan too, but I must say I like ST VI: The Undiscovered Country the most out of the movies featuring the original Enterprise crew.

when Picard & crew follow the Borg back in time on earth to when warp drive was developed, do you remember when, about what year it was on earth?
Interesting scenario - after WWIII, post apocolypse - were they in Montana?

5. The date was April 4th, 2063 |

Exactly one day before Zefram Cochrane's historic warp flight. And yup you're right, the bunker that housed his ship, the Phoenix, was in "central Montana" according to Commander Riker.

To me, it's as good as "Wrath of Khan". Unfortunately, most of the ST movies are not very good, especially the "Next Gen" movies. "ST: Nemesis" was horrible.

7. 'First Contact' has some nice core ideas, |
|
but they're horribly executed.
The same goes for Generations and Insurrection.
Nemesis is, as usual, poorly executed, but this time there's nothing even remotely original or interesting about it.
