Anybody know how to find crime reports for a certain area?
I'm looking for an apartment. I've seen two I like, but I don't want to move in if there are frequent thefts and burglaries.

1. You can try the local newspaper...
they usually publish crime reports & arrests. Failing that, se if the local police department can give you the info.

5. In Houston, at least, you can
find the webpage that lists police reports/crime incidents block by block.

I was here apt. looking last year, found a really cheap apartment listed. Before looking at it, I checked the police page ... wasn't happy with the report for the previous year, just for that *block*: 2 murders, 3 rapes (2 in buildings, one in alley), and dozen assaults. Decided my wife and kid were worth a bit more.

(If there's a river nearby, also check out flood maps, if available ... although that may be more of a Houston problem.)
