Degree Biology, but I took more classes in other subjects

In fact, I took only the minimum number of biology classes required for the major. My adviser talked me into taking organic chemistry and physics, but I dropped the second semester of both classes. I preferred my liberal arts classes much more and actually did better in them. I studied most of the liberal arts subjects through the intermediate level: Anthropology, Classics, English, French, Gender Studies, Government, History, Music, Psychology, and Russian. I wish that I would have had even more electives.
On the other hand, I knew some students at my college, who took the maximum number of classes in their major department and /or division (Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, or Humanities). They were upset that they were required to take general education requirements and that they had to take even more classes outside of their department or division.
Personally, liberal arts electives were one of the reasons that I went to a liberal arts college and majoring in a science that didn't require an excessive number of classes. Otherwise, I would have went to a different type of college and majored in engineering. The real issue, of course though, is why I didn't major in one of those liberal art subjects that I liked better, did better in, and received more factulty encouragement and compliments in. Even if English or History isn't as much of a career path degree, I would have gotten a higher GPA and better factualty support, which may have lead to graduate school or a good job.
What about other DUers? Did you enjoy your major classes or your non major classes better? Did you take more classes than you needed pertainent to your major or career plans or other classes? do you sometimes think that you should have majored in something else.

1. Maybe, I should have given this a different title

The thread about college degrees made me think about this. For those of us with degrees, we may have a major, something that people say we went to school for. In truth, many of us learned things in many other subjects too.
