Where I grew up and mini golfed, we had a Putt Putt golf course. That was the franchise name. There were solid walls painted orange. Any obstacles were made from the same material as the walls and I believe also orange. The putting surface was always in good condition. I believe that you could have official competitions there. I am not sure if all the courses were the same.
What the people are playing above is not, Putt Putt golf. The wall are not solid. The rock would not be there. That is the wrong surface also.

I think Putt-Putt is the brand name of a particular chain of minigolf places; miniature golf is the generic term. However, putt-putt is a MUCH catchier name than miniature golf so those of us folks who don't pay too much attention to trademarks in casual conversation tend to use it generically. It's just like the trademark Kleenex; it's much catchier than tissue paper so we tend to use it as a generic term. Moral: If your trademark is too clever and useful, you run more of a risk of losing it. (Note: I am not a lawyer.)

is what we always called it but it's prolly the wrong answer.

One of the best times I had was playing putt putt with my youngest son (then four) at a Jurassic golf place in Myrtle Beach when there were sharks inland so we couldn't swim.

There were a bunch of Repuke types there and my son and I had fuun breaking all the rules and playing "our own" version and watching all their heads nearly explode. Some of them acted like it was the Masters or something. We laughed our booties off.
