What is your favorite John Denver album? |
|
Don't deny the fact that you like John Denver! I can listen to Slayer and then put on John Denver and feel fine. My favorite CD is "Legendary John Denver" cause it has everything.

2. I have truly eclectic music tastes...but |
|
I have to admit I own every single US-released JD album (and a few imports)! (I went a little crazy when he died).
Favorites? a little hard, but...in no particular order, Rhymes and Reasons, Poems, Prayers & Promises, Aerie, Rocky Mountain High, Farewell Andromeda, Windsong, A Night With John Denver, and The Wildlife Concert are certainly my favorites.
I don't listen that often any more, but he is very welcoming to come back to from time to time...

7. No, that's "Oh God I'm an Ocean Buoy" |
|
Took a flight from Monterey And I never came back Bought a plane from a kit That was built by a quack Jumped in the cockpit And downed a six pack
And now I'm an ocean buoy
Well, it's hard when you're flyin' And your sluggin' on a bottle Flying in a plane That's an experimental model Reached for Jim Beam But instead I grabbed the throttle
Oh God! I'm an ocean buoy
Well, I grabbed the controls And I started to fiddle Got flames coming up On my face like a griddle Air flight's nothin' But a funny funny riddle
Oh God! I'm an ocean buoy
Well, my head's chopped to pieces And my body's full of dents They identified me By my guitar's finger prints I tried to dry out But instead got a rinse
And now I'm an ocean buoy
Well I'm feeling kinda down And I'm sinking kinda low In the undersea world Of Jacque Cousteau Bobbing up and down When the trade winds blow
'Cause now I'm an ocean buoy
Well, I grabbed the controls And I started to fiddle Got flames coming up On my face like a griddle Air flights nothing But a funny funny riddle
Oh God! I'm an ocean buoy. Woohoo!
When the plane dove down It was nothing but a riddle My pants got wet When I started to piddle George Burns appeared beside me And we prayed just a little
Woo! Oh God! I'm an ocean buoyhttp://www.bobrivers.com/audiovault/tunes/tunes.asp?Var=O

“Uh, pull over.”
I’d been sippin’ on some vino From a pretty decent year Zippin’ home in my classic Porsche 914 I saw flashin’ lights behind me Heard a siren in the wind And I wondered what the ossifer pulled me over for
When I first rolled down the window He stuck a flashlight in my eyes So I smiled and I asked him what was wrong He said your left taillight is broken You missed a stop sign way back there You’re going way too fast And your breath smells pretty strong
In the Colorado Rocky Mountains high I’m weavin’ left to right and side-to-side Now I’m trying hard to touch my nose But I always stab my eye

“Uh, step out of the car. You’re doomed, ‘Mr. Sunshine On My Shoulders’. You’re drivin’ on the shoulder.” DWI Colorado DWI Coloradohttp://www.bobrivers.com/audiovault/tunes/tunes.asp?Var=D&Page=1

Denver's DWI problems are so focal to many people, though he has been dead for so many years. Compared to the drug problems of so many singers/songwriters, Denver's problems were regrettable, I'm sure, but certainly not deserving of the "scandal" that seemed to follow him.
I just don't get it... Just the squeaky clean image he had early in life that bugs people? Denver was an incredible progressive, conservationist, ecologist, and humanist before it was cool to be either. Whether one likes his music or not, that alone should make him respected on this board, IMO. Human enough to make mistakes, yup. Like all of us...
