Sentencing of that Killen man was cruel....and unimaginative
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 03:40 PM by sasquatch
Let's put him in the movies to die like the Romans put criminals in plays.

"Mr. Killen, I sentence you to...Steven King's next pictrure."
"NOOOOOOOOOOO"

4. hey Maddy ..
Did I read earlier that you were going to try to get to the courthouse for Killen's trial? (my brain sometimes gets things confused lol)
And, IF you did get there, were you there for the sentencing?

8. Yes. I was there for the final day of the trial, during jury deliberation
... when the jury announced the verdict, and also during sentencing.

I have great respect for Judge Gordon. He's a VERY fair judge.

Did you read the post when I talked about the Neshoba County SWAT team marching in formation through town, to various points around town, where they were relieving sharpshooters who were on the roof during the whole trial?

No one expected a riot from the black community in Neshoba. But there were Klansmen and "White Nationalists" (one sat next to me during the last day of testimony :scared: ) from all over the South there. Law enforcement actually expected the Klan to riot.

But it was non-eventful. There were so many police, troopers, lawmen of every stripe and color, deployed all around the outside and the inside of the courthouse and around downtown. I think even the Klan knew that they would be foolish to cause any trouble.

entire trial and sentencing. I'm sure you were 'very' uncomfortable sitting with the klan, I know I would have been

16. I debated going.
What was funny was that three of my liberal friends were also at the trial. None of us knew the other would be there. Really odd coincidence. And we were all from at least two hours out of town...one of my liberal friends there was from my hometown!

12. You were THERE?
Good for you. You had a rare chance to witness justice being done.

I've seen people like this before, and they radiate hate.

15. Creepy doesn't even begin to describe it.
Last Monday, I felt so weird that I had to leave the courtroom and go to the hotel. :scared: It was more surreal than I can explain.
