When freepers want fence, they need to know how much! |
|
Oh, and what kind. That's good to know too.
Today, a guy wearing a pro-Bush tee came up and demanded a price on some fence.
"What kind?" I don't give a shit. "How much?" What is this, twenty fucking questions? Just tell me how much some fence is!
Okay...no problem sir...I'll be right back.
Let me see...Dubya's pig farm is 2500 acres. That's about four square miles at 640 acres to the section. A hunk of land that big has an eight-mile perimeter.
The most expensive fence I can get is white 6-foot Santa Fe aluminum fence sections. To fence Bush's ranch, you'll need 7,030 panels (at $148 each), 15 walk gates (at $303 each), 7046 posts (at $32.98 each), 7064 sets of brackets (at $9.90 each), ten pair of hinges to make drive gates (at $26.66 each), ten latches (at $23.66 each) and 3523 bags of general purpose concrete (at $2.82 each).
"Sir, I've got it. It will cost you one million, three hundred fifty-seven thousand, 344 dollars. With tax that will be one million, four hundred fifty-two thousand, three hundred fifty-eight dollars twenty-five cents."
"HOW MUCH FUCKING FENCE IS THAT?" Enough to go all the way around the pResident's ranch.
Turns out he only wanted six wooden fence panels to go between his neighbors' fences.

this job provides a prime opportunity to see total idiots in their natural environment.
You can't get that in just any field.

5. He bought the six pieces he really needed |
|
I figured y'know, if this guy didn't care how much fence he bought, maybe he'd get us into the Ride Along with Tony Stewart Program.
How that program works: In retail a huge number is "comp"--comparative sales, or "how much better or worse was this year compared to last year?" Positive comp--selling more this year than last year--is good. The store with the highest positive comp for the week gets their store number painted on the side of Tony Stewart's car for that week's race. (If you watch NASCAR you've probably seen a four-digit number on the car right behind the back wheel. That's what it's for.)
