3. Depends
When doing wine work as in setting up a wine list, sometimes the reps stop in at 10 am or that's when you're free...

so before like 3 pm , I spit.

5. Depends on how much you are going to taste...
Professional wine tasters rarely swallow because getting drunk is not the point. If the wine tasting you are attending is social or if you are going to be tasting just a few different types, go ahead and swallow. But at 10 - 12 % alcohol or better, those sips add up pretty quick.

A HERETIC I AM <-- presently a car hauler, formerly a wine salesman...sold wine by the case at private tastings in homes and offices and had a cursory education as a Sommelier

6. Welcome to DU fellow wino!
:)

...And it is remarkable how otherwise sane people get outrageously drunk at wine festivals and other such "sipping" events, when they don't head for the bucket after every taste.

Death by a thousand cuts! ;)

10. Definitely Depends….
Small tasting…I’m swallowing vs. a large event I was at a couple of years ago where they had a good 50 to 60 tables. Typically, I’m a red wino, but that night I decided to just go for the whites. I spit on the first go-around, made note of my favorites and went for the gusto on my second go-around. Was friggin’ hammered by nights’ end.

12. Could it be that we are just jealous about the ability of women...
to feed children? Or am I just an incorrigible trainee of Freud?
Peculiar in Germany,

13. Taste?
Who has time to taste it?

CHUG!
CHUG!
CHUG!
CHUG!

Okay, I don't chug wine. I rarely drink wine anyways, because I'm allerigc to sulfites, and most wines contain sulfites.
They give me a headache.
