Do you watch Lifetime?
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 09:42 PM by Jack_Dawson
Just curious. Every single time I go to the gf's house Lifetime is on. And being the good bf I am, I've sat through a few movies. "She Said No", "My Best Friend's Husband", etc.

I guess my question is...what exactly is the allure of this channel? TV movies from six years ago? Meredith Baxter whatserface?

Seriously...break it down for me.

3. No, Lifetime is like reading a bad chick novel. You know, like one by
that horrible old crone with the big ratted pink hair. I forget her name.

4. I have been know to watch Strong Medicine on Lifetime
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 09:44 PM by lenidog
The cast is pretty decent and I like the fact that usually every episode has some kind of ethical dilemma. Besides that I usually never watch it though this week I caught up in one of their movies. Its like a train wreck. I knew I should run away but I couldn't. It was called "Pornographic Seduction" or some dumb crap like that. It was about a teen who gets hooked on porn and just can't stop and ends up destroying his like. I laughed my ass off at it, all the while I was hanging out here and on the net.

8. He just started like last week.
The other actress (the mom from Home Improvement) her character became Surgeon General. You probably saw one of the adds somewhere.

20. I watched "Day by Day" when it was still on
that was the Annie Potts show set in Birmingham that flashed back to when she and her African American lawyer friend (I can't remember that actor's name) were kids.

6. Well they do
have MISSING which is in its second year. It is a drama series which airs new episodes in the summer that isn't half bad. I also kind of like to watch Golden Girl Repeats and Designing Women repeats every once in a blue moon.

But I agree about their movies. For a channel that is supposed to be about women they sure show a lot of victim of the week movies. They rarely show anything that isn't on that theme in one way or the other.

7. I just watched three natural disaster movies on that channel.
Volcanoes
Earthquakes
Avalanche

It must be natural disaster day.

9. And it probably had the same actress playing the single mom in all of them
The Sci Fi channel has been on a disaster kick too. There is one actress and I don't know her name who seems to be the queen of "made for TV" disaster flicks. I have seen her in passing on at least three or four of them and they always have her playing a single mom.

15. 2/3, it was a Cynthia Gibb double feature.
I was disappointed that she wasn't in the avalanche flick.

10. Mostly it seems to be Paid Programming
I just looked it up on my Yahoo TV listings and it looks pretty grim. A few meager movies ("Terror in the Mall" was up there - I don't even want to know; and also "Trapped: Buried Alive"), Golden Girls reruns, and a few things I never heard of.

Golden Girls was definitely the best thing going.

Could you maybe suggest turning on the radio? Maybe catch some NPR before the Bushies destroy it completely....

But, perhaps I am being too judgmental here. My husband does not understand why I watch I Love Lucy reruns even though I have seen each one a hundred times.

Maybe it is some release your gf gets from the Bush Administration "reality show" we all endure. I know I need my share, even though I get it from reruns of 1950s sitcoms and game shows.

14. nope, im a female but those type of movies/shows dont appeal to me
at all. I don't like romance novels either...SOME chick flicks are pretty good, but there are a lot of cheesy ones too.

21. My wife can not stand them either
she claims all the movies do is bash men or show men in a negative light. To me it seemed even handed to both sexes. But what do I know, I am kind of new to TV movies.

16. To be honest, up until seven months ago
I had never tuned it at all. I work at home and had been so politically tuned in to the crap found on cable/network news both on radio and TV that following the November results I just "tuned out" the crap all together. To me it was kind of like reading a fiction book, harmless bubblegum entertainment.

Lifetime soap operas/movies gave me the breathing room I needed. I had never experienced the type of movies they offer. Don't get me wrong, I do not recommend them, but I found myself an escape route to the reality broadcast BS that surrounded me.

My mind frame required the distraction and Lifetime provided it.

a nursing home. Most of their stuff doesn't appeal to me, though.
