Although I'm a Kucincih liberal, I do have a few conservative qualities. Well, actually quite a few. But they are my choice, and I chose them . The difference, to me, is that I don't want to impose them on others.

4. What's a Kentucky liberal like?
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 11:21 PM by senseandsensibility
I'm very familiar with a California liberal, but a Kentucky liberal must be something.

9. Well, to be fair I live in Louisville which is hardly Kentucky.
Louisville is a pretty cool, liberal place, but it is surrounded by... the south.

I am in high school right now though, and my main mission in life is to get out of the south and move to new england as soon as possible.

2. Guns
I believe in your right to own one. I don't know if that's really all that conservative, though, as a lot of liberals believe the same. But it's something I have in common with conservatives.

7. I am more conservative when it comes to sex, but not for the reasons
that the RW pushes at people and not b/c of religion. I don't believe in the abstinence only programs because they end up increasing the number of teens who get pregnant, but I also think a lot of kids are having sex WAY to early today just b/c of peer pressure and wanting to fit in. I can't think of anything else that would make anyone classify me as being more conservative, though.

11. Going to church is NOT a conservative practice!
Not if you belong to a liberal or moderate congregation, at least. My parish is Episcopalian/gay-friendly which makes us liberal than more liberal than many Christians. Also, even the Baptist church has a liberal wing called the "American Baptists."

18. I ascribe to the Bill Clinton perspective on abortion
"Abortion should be legal, safe, and rare"

I don't like abortion, but I fully support a woman's right to choose for herself.

12. I don't personally believe in abortions.
But I certainly don't believe that just because it's not for me, that other women should be denied the choice. ESPECIALLY by a man who will know NOTHING about giving birth. Ever.

26. Carbon-based life form
Used to be I could agree with them on things like balanced budgets and accountability. Then they decided such things weren't important.

Nowadays I think they actually want a new feudal society, where the peons (formerly known as the working and middle classes) are born stupid because of environmental lead and mercury, and die before retirement because of carcinogens in our food, water and air.

28. Occassionally I agree with capital punishment...
For the most part I am against it, but occasionally I hear about something someone has done that is just horrible beyond words (like that lady who pushed her car in a lake with her kids locked inside) and I just can't help but think 'that person does not deserve to live'.

40. Guns, and expenditure of public funds
I believe in spending money where it is needed, but there is a lot of room for improvement in efficiency.

Government officials should handle the peoples' money as if they were board members on a corporation that although does not operate for profit has to answer continuously to auditors and investors.
