Locksmith uses x-ray ater man swallows keys
Local locksmith corrects key mistake
By KRISTINA JERGENSEN, The North Platte Telegraph

John Somers of Al's Lock and Key thought he had seen it all.
Until Thursday, that is.

For 15 years, Somers has been making keys to open cars and safes. But on Thursday, he did something he had never done before.
He made a duplicate key to a pick-up truck using an X-ray of a man's stomach.

Late Wednesday night, Arthur Richardson of Denver wanted to get into his friend Andrew Allen's 1977 Chevrolet pickup, and he asked him for the key.

He took the key and jokingly put it into his mouth.
"I was acting like I pretend swallowed it, but then it actually went down into my stomach!" Richardson said.
"It didn't hurt. It just went down easy. I was thinking, 'Uh-oh.'"
It was Allen's only key to start the pick-up.
Richardson tried to vomit up the key, and then drank Milk of Magnesia to flush it out, with no luck.
On Thursday, Richardson and Allen went to Great Plains Regional Medical Center for help.
"I wanted an X-ray, and to find out what to do to get it out," Richardson said, explaining that hospital workers said it could take two to three days for the key to pass through his system.
Allen didn't want to wait that long. He called Al's Lock and Key to have another key made from the truck's ignition.
Somers said when he learned of the X-ray, he told them to bring it down.
