I just got a new kitten-unfortunately he came with a name I can't |
|
live with ("W"). He's got a tortoise-shell pattern with markings that kinda look like petroglyphs. I'm looking for a name that might have some regional relevance (we live in Oregon) and trying to avoid going to those "name a cat" websites. Any ideas? Any help will be appreciated!

6. Give it some time. Many cats will show you what their name should be |
|
Watch and let the little fellow introduce himself.
Havoc named himself while we were pouring over books to think of a name. he kept racing through and disrupting everyone. Flash the dog named herself too.
Take the time to get to know the little chap and let him introduce himself.

7. You posted two threads on this... |
|
(accidentally, I'm sure...DU is tres slow today), so here's the suiggestion I posted on the other: Klamath (you wanted something with regional reference; that's the best name I can come up with that's got it)

8. Tortoise shell marking? |
|
Then that's no he, that's a she. Color is sex-linked; tortoise shell and calico kitties are female.
Regional relevance for Oregon: Coos (Like Coos Bay; here Coos, Coos) Salem (would be better for a black kitty) Raven (ditto; ravens have cultural significance to the NW tribes) Lewis or Clark -- (I'll let you guess) Colombo (play on Columbia River)
I'm exhausted. Try these or other names on the kitty and see what she responds to.

Yikes.
The Dalles? (I actually do end up nicknaming animal friends with "the" something...Moby is thus referred to as "the mobester.")
Zeb (after Zebulon Pike)
Peavey (a logging tool)
Kesey or Sherman or Alexie (Oregon authors)
Doppio (double espresso)

It's a great name for a male kitty, and it's also a town near Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. :)
