Dammit... something bit the hell outta me.
I thought it was mosquitos so I just brushed at the area when I felt the bites... this is last Wed or so... but the bumps are still there and do they ever hurt! They didn't start hurting until about 4 hours after I got the bites, but they haven't stopped hurting since!

ow ow ow ow OW!

:(

Any sign of spidey sense? or supernatural strength?

I hope you work for the good guys, and don't become some vigilante.

3. I'm wondering if they're spider bites...
There's 9 of 'em... would a spider be that persistent? I guess maybe if he was stuck in my clothes...

:(

12. It sounds bad, but he may have been feeding.
I've had multiple spider bites in the same place and made that assumption. 9 bites seems excessive though.

16. Spider bites suck!
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 04:40 PM by Moochy
No pun intended. I have a spider bite right now that is about 4 days old. :( You can get a reaction to the venom that gets a secondary infection, thats usually what happens with me.

... of course we could both just be imagining things...

http://spiders.ucr.edu/necrotic.html

Given all the hypocondriac type stuff on that page, best bet is to see a doctor :) google, the hypocondriac's friend.

If there are multiple wounds in one person at once, or multiple wounds over a period of time, or multiple victims in a house, it is probably not a recluse bite. Multiple wounds are more likely the work of insects (fleas, kissing bugs) or arachnids (mites, ticks) that are seeking you for a blood meal or it is some underlying dermatologic condition (Staphylococcus infection, pyoderma gangrenosum). Please don’t ask me what insects it might be, I don’t know much about them. It will be best to ask your local entomologists or public health officials what biting insects are in the area. They vary greatly by region.

I know the feeling though.... last week I slept with the window open, and awoke with 3 HUGE bites, on my ass of all places. Looks like a mosquito had all the leisurely time she could ask for :(

7. I was going to say Fire ants, but ...
they would have hurt right away - lots. My best guess is spider. Try a paste of meat tenderizer on them. Also benadryl (creme, spray or pill) can help if there is a histamine reaction going on.

23. No ... just painful
And now today they're kind of itchy.

I thought they seemed warm to the touch over the weekend, but then I felt the other side of my waist and it was warm, too.

17. If they are where clothing binds the skin, they could be chigger bites
Good luck to you if they are.. They itch/burn/sting for DAYS..

If you got them at dusk, in a grassy area that could be the cuplrit..

18. Ouch! I got 12 bites from something that got under the back of my shirt
I've got 7 bites right at the waistband of my jeans and 5 bites further up my back. I could feel something biting me when I was at the barn with my horse. By the time I got whatever it was off it had had a feast. This happened on Friday and it itches more each day!
:(
Fire ant bites form little blisters. I think that I was bitten by a spider.
:(
I hope that you feel better. Try some allergy cream with antihistamine, topical analgesic and skin protectant. It helps.

20. you need to be careful
about this if it was a spider or a tick it wouldn't hurt to get an antibiotic shot just to cover all your bases.

22. Sounds like Black Flys to me, also known as buffalo gnats.
biting the hell out of me this year, you dont feel the bites right away, if you scratch then, and they itch like hell, the bumbs get huge and will last about 1 week. Where we live was very wet during the winter and spring. their larve need fresh running water as the larve feed via filtering. Repoprts say they can fly 4 to 7 miles for food only the females byte they inject an anticolagulent and the blood pools under the byte for their dining pleasure. I have been afraid to go out. Its been in the mid 90's and i wont go out without long sleves, long pants and a bandana for my neck sprayed down with off.

Around these parts people call them NO-SEE-EMS also known as turkey gnats and they can be small enough to get through window and door screens! AAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Do a google search for Black Flys and good luck

28. I am putting my money on Black Fly Bites.
I have two on my ear some on my neck and about 2 dozen on my legs. My wife had some cortozone cream that helped with the itching. if I get one bite on my leg the whole leg will itch and burn but mostly itch. Then I scratch unitil I bleed. If you are being bitten by these I share your pain, literally! Good Luck!
