Anyone have the new Readers Digest? |
|
It says something akin to 'The pill that will end aging' on the cover. Well if you do, I encourage you to read the 'That's Outrageous' column in that particular edition.
The article is titled 'Pumping Out Big Lies' (quite odd for a Murdoch publication to accuse other sources of lying), and its general tone really bothers me.
The article says people who believe that someone other than Oswald was involved in the JFK hit are nutty! Nutty. It also implies that it is wrong to think America is capable of mass murder. Both of which are contradictory to reality... but whatever.
If you read it lemme know if it rubbed you the wrong way as well.

1. Sorry, I quit reading Republican Digest ages ago |
|
I use to adore that magazine (my grandfather subscribed to it and I would read all the issues when I visited him). But decade I swear it took a strong turn to the right with some of the crap they were publishing in that magazine.

IF it wasn't saturday and drinking night, I would go grab it from the trash and type it out. Yes, I was so disgusted with it that I ripped the article out and threw it away.

3. I had the misfortune to read that issue in my eye doc's waiting room. |
|
I agree with you that that piece was RW trash. Also, the article about aging never brought up the point that us poor folks were never going to get the meds to live to 130 -- they acted like it would be available to everyone, not just the ones who could pay. The usual crap.

7. I think I have seen a similar headline before. |
|
on the RD. Like "Stop Aging" now. I think its just a fluff article directing at attracting what they see as thier target audience.

200 mg of alpha lipoic acid and 500 mg of acetyl-L-carnitine, both available at "any health food store." These are antioxidants that delay the aging process a little bit. The title of the article: "The End of Aging" is highly misleading, because the article admits we are all going to die anyway no later than age 120 when all of our cells are programmed to stop dividing.

11. A little while back, I saw a story on Olbermann (Countdown)... |
|
(At least I think it was Olbermann. If anyone would cover it, he would.) It wasn't a pill, in his story -- it was from a study that had worked with... worms. The solution to this niggling little "death" problem apparently is to have your sexual apparatus... all of it... uh... removed.
I will now remove myself from the subject, to let your imaginations run wild.

10. I saw it and instantly decided never to buy an issue again... |

Once in a while they have good articles, but this one is ludicrous and right out of bad sci-fi. 'The pill that will end aging' indeed, it's as pompous as they come.
Knowing that Herr Murdoch owns the magazine helps too.
Didn't read any of the articles within though.
