HELP!!! ALL DUers PLEASE HELP!!!
I have been thinking for a long time, and I have finally started to take action on a group that came to mind last fall.

The idea is called 'Teen Peace', and is NOT a takeoff on 'Greenpeace'. It is a group for people thirteen and over to help promote peace throughout the United States and other countries. People older than nineteen can help out younger kids (I.E drive them to protests, help make signs and banners...), and kids younger than nineteen can do the actual protesting/care package making/ and other such things.

One idea I had is to make care packages for children over in the Middle East. The packages would include things like high nutrition baby formula, bottles of water, batteries, pens and pencils, non-perishable food like dried fruits, blankets, sweaters, shoes, and toys. But not only in the Middle East, also in Africa, and Tsunami ravaged Asia.

Another idea is that I would like to protest the war in Iraq and the lack of notice of genocide in African countries. I am tired as people look the other way while thousands of people die. I would like to teach kids that war is NOT the answer, and that there is a way that you can stop it.

I, am a thirteen-year-old girl, the daughter of AmandaRuth, good hearted democrat and P.C.O for the local group of democrats, the 31st. I have many ideas for making our voices heard, but little ideas about how to get started.

Please, fellow men/women/cats, help me in anyway possible.

The children are the future.

Find a place to meet - then announce it.

-----

Send a PSA (public service announcement) to your local newspaper - maybe parents will read.

Example:

Teen Peace
Address for meeting

News Release

Date of Announcement

Teen Peace Meeting (date and location of meeting)

Who we are: People thirteen and over to help promote peace throughout the United States and other countries. People older than nineteen can help out younger kids (I.E drive them to protests, help make signs and banners...), and kids younger than nineteen can do the actual protesting/care package making/ and other such things.

What we are doing: Make care packages for children over in the Middle East. The packages would include things like high nutrition baby formula, bottles of water, batteries, pens and pencils, non-perishable food like dried fruits, blankets, sweaters, shoes, and toys. But not only in the Middle East, also in Africa, and Tsunami ravaged Asia.

(contact information for the meeting goes here)

(your contact information for the paper to contact you goes here)

------

Have more PSAs available for people who show up - ask them to run them in their school papers or post fliers around their schools.

Have plenty of fliers ready to hand out.

Carry fliers with you wherever you go. Hand them out.

edited to add most important part: have coffee can or something for people to drop in coins and spare change at all meetings. it adds up and can help with buying poster paper, markers, etc. keep track of the money - pain in the backside, but necessary.

4. Now that's grrrl power!
Did I spell that right? I'm an old guy.
You're taking the first step just thinking about it, and a giant leap coming here and seeking advice and action.

Does your community have some sort of community center, where you could hold meetings and have donations delivered and boxed?
