Picasso's Mistress Auctions Off His Sketches
<snip>

PARIS -- A former mistress of Pablo Picasso has sold 20 of his sketches at a Paris auction.

The sketches sold for a total of $1.87 million.

One sketch went for more $575,000, more than three times the estimated price. The auction house didn't identify the buyer.

The seller, Genevieve Laporte, had a two-year secret affair with the artist in the 1950s. She's now 79 years old and, in her words, "at the end of my road."

She is the subject of the sketches. Most were drawn when they vacationed in Saint Tropez in the summer of 1951.
