Who else can't stand blathering morning DJ's?
Driving in the morning the last thing I want to hear is annoying obnoxious narcissists babbling on and on about stupid stuff, why do they think people would rather hear that than music? (I don't have a cd or cassette player in my car). I end up turning on "smooth jazz" which is nearly as annoying, but compared to those asine DJ's that think they're so witty and clever it's bliss.

3. lol, I hear ya, I always change stations any time of day
and it annoys the heck out of me when it takes them forever to introduce the next song. "40 minutes non-stop music coming up next! but first, allow me to indulge listening to the sound of my own voice and ramble on about nothing, then continue talking while the song starts"

2. I immediately turn the station or put on a cassette/cd
I like news/commentary like on NPR or Pacifica Radio, but I can't listen to that inane blather about nothing that I find on the stations that normally play music.

15. yeah, me neither, I'm just dreaming. I have a lot of cassettes
though that are still good, maybe I'll buy a little portable cassette player, I picked a couple of books on tape at Half Price Books for 3 bucks. It's nice in a way to be old school, now I can get vhs and cassette tapes for rock bottom prices. don't even have a dvd player, though I have a couple of dvd's, can't record tv shows with a regular dvd player anyway.

22. I love audiobooks
I'll borrow them from the library, and if they are really good ones I want to listen to repeatedly I will dub them. The library is now getting many titles on CD, but still has a lot on tape.

Non-fiction audiobooks are wonderful also--nothing like learning new stuff during the drudgery of commuting to and from work!

24. Make a donation to your local NPR broadcast
radio station and encourage others too. They can buy better transponders and stuff like that to make the broadcasts better.

I am only saying this because my husband and I just made a large donation to our local station. So now we don't feel so bad for not being regular donors.

Also don't forget about podcasting. You can download the shows you like and listen to them at your leisure.

26. My husband got me a 1gig shuffle for my b-day
6 months ago. I have a tape adapter in my car to play "Shuffull's" with. It is like having a remote to my music files. It usually holds about 2-300 songs.

Public radio stations are weak where I am too. Especially in certain areas. Thank you for being a contributor to public radio. I fear the day of it's death.

Blech.

I think I know the ones you're talking about KAB. I can't stand them either.

The other duo are fairly plesant, and even funny as far ask Drive Time Talk goes. I only get them from the Greensboro station though.

I listen to NPR in the morning.

They are talk, but whenever I've tuned in they were not

1) performing stupid PR stunts
2) pulling stupid pranks on people
3) Or behaving like they were 9 years old.

16. I like a modicum of intelligence in morning talk radio.
Used to get that from one of the morning shows in the area. Then they got rid of their most obnoxious cast member, and somehow the entire show went downhill.

I'll listen to NPR news sometimes, but have pretty much switched over to Morning Sedition, sucky though the reception is on WWAA.

32. Definitely!
I ran into a local sales manager for a radio group. We have a shared client that I was entertaining at lunch. We stopped to say hello on our way out and they were talking about some big promotion they were doing on the radio and I had to have it explained to me. The sales manager was flabbergasted that I had not heard about it. He said, "come on, we are promoting it every hour!" I just smiled and said "sorry, I'm all satellite these days."

He turned a little green.....especially when his client, a media buyer, chuckled.

21. Oh, me definitely
The morning DJ's are the worst. The people who are on later in the day just seem to play music for the most part (with a billion commercials) but the morning guys just go on and on and on about boring crap.

The guy on the station I mostly listen to (mainly because it's the only one that comes in well) is a name dropper - "when I was hanging out with Bruce Springsteen..." or "I remember when Van Morrison called me up..."
Drives me nuts - am I supposed to be impressed? Just play some frigging music and shut the hell up! :grr:

27. I hate how they LOVE EVERYTHING
Every band's new music is SO GREAT.

"This new song is really great"
"Yes, I can't agree more. It is just fantastic"
"It really, really is very, very good indeed."
"I agree again. I really like it a lot!"
"Me too"

Shills. What's the point? The best was when that last truly awful Metallica album came out. If there were Oscars given for radio performances... boy, oh boy.

38. Stupid-Assed "Morning Zoo" radio...
Hell, my town doesn't even HAVE anyone smart enough to giggle and crack fart jokes for the 14-y-o boys out there. They have to import "The Bob and Tom Show" from Indianapolis...

Then
the local "talent" spend the rest of the morning playing the same 4 Kansas, Bob Seeger, Metalica and Guns n' Roses songs over and over and over...

"Be listening at 7 AM tomorrow to find out what the day's 'Song that PAYS' is gonna be..."
Shit, that's a no-brainer. It's either "Dust in the Wind" or "Turn the Page"...

Since the little wastrels have trouble getting out of bed and to school with out a pair of hyenas cackling about the boner joke they told or the sports guy's fart...

Frankly, I don't know why radio stations program for the 12-22 male demo at 6AM. Unless they're opening at MacGreasies, they've got 3 mor hours to sleep at that time, anyway...

And now in world news, three people were injured today when their bus hit a camel 14 miles outside of Cairo

So I use Stern or the local morning zoo fuckwits on WAAF :puke:

They piss me off so fast I'm almost immediately awake.
