8. For most cooking, kosher.
It sticks better. But, if one needs to dissolve the salt, sea salt works better. Pickling salt is the best on popcorn.

12. It's sometimes called "canning salt".
You can get it in the mega-mart. It's a really fine grind, and has no iodine.

I learned about pickling salt from Alton Brown.

14. Sel Gris
Sel Gris or Grey Salt which is a moist unrefined salt found on the costal areas of France. Sprinkle it on salad and toss with some olive oil, vinegar, and herbs and the results are phenomenal. For curing, I like corse Kosher salt.

19. Depends on the usage.
For flavour, natural sea salts are vastly superior. And the exotic flavours of Hawaiian sea salt get a special thumbs up.

For ability to dissolve quickly, Kosher is tops, but it's far less saline, so I often have to use one and half to two times as much to get the same affect.

Table salt has it's place, but I don't use it. Though certainly, it's one of the best ways to get iodine into the diet.
