15. They are very good
I only have electroshockblues and am seriously thinking about buying Blinking Lights and Other Revelations. There are so many songs, though, and the samples don't tell you a lot. Is it as good as electroshockblues?

I've been listening to the Beatles a lot today. :-)

24. Muddy was actually a 2nd generation master
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 07:02 PM by Zuni
or third generation, if you count the unknown musicians who first developed the blues style out of a combination of work songs, field hollers, and southern folk music...

He learned from watching Son House in Mississippi during the 1930s and honed his skills playing with older guys in Son Sim's band.

Howlin' Wolf was actually taught personally by Charlie Patton (one of the best early Delta stars who gave Wolf a lot of his style. John Lee Hooker's stepfather played with Patton in the Juke Joints too) and later the Wolf toured Mississippi with Robert Johnson, arguably the greatest of the Delta players.

Most of the great Chicago players of the 1950s learned their trade by listening to or being taught by the Delta greats in Mississippi or Memphis before they went to Chicago

sorry, I love talking about the blues...I tend to ramble on

:hi:

37. Twenty by robert Cray and watching Close encounters on TCM
twenty: free download

Robert Cray is a five time Grammy winner who grew up on military bases in the U.S. and abroad. His father served in Vietnam so Robert has personal knowledge of the effect on a family when one of it’s members is serving abroad.

On May 24 – the album’s street date -- TrueMajority.org, a non partisan, non-profit, grassroots education and advocacy project founded by Ben Cohen (Ben & Jerry's), plans to offer the song a streaming audio to its entire online community of 575,000 Americans who are committed to getting government to reflect our values of justice, compassion and sustainability.

The May 24 release of Twenty, Cray’s fourteenth album, will be backed by an extensive worldwide tour by The Robert Cray Band beginning on the week of release with a May 26 San Francisco benefit for Music In Schools Today. The tour will continue across the U.S. and Europe throughout the summer. A full itinerary appears at http://www.rosebudus.com/tourdates/cray.html .

When you’re used up, where do you go
Soldier
Mother dry your eyes, there’s no need to cry
I’m not a boy, it’s what I signed up for

When you’re used up, where do you go
Soldier
I can’t take the heat, and I hardly sleep anymore
What’d we come here for

Standing out here in the desert
Trying to protect an oil line
I’d really like to do my job but
This ain’t the country that I had in mind
They call this a war on terror
I see a lot of civilians dying
Mothers, sons, fathers and daughters
Not to mention some friends of mine
Some friends of mine

Was supposed to leave last week
Promises they don’t keep anymore
Got to fight the rich man’s war

When you’re used up, where do you go
Soldier
Late in 2004
Comes a knock at the door
It’s no surprise
Mother dry your eyes

44. "Don't you trust me?" 2pac

You should stop for awhile you will find me standing there (Don't you trust me?)
Over here at the side of your life (Not that I don't trust you)
You spend all your hours just rushing around
Do you have a little time to have a little time for me?

As soon as I leave the house you wanna page me
See you got me trapped I'm going crazy this is slavery
You act like it's outrageous give me space it won't get better
And maybe we will argue and be through with all these sorry letters
Soon as I come home it's like I get the third degree
Where ya been and who you with I get no room to breathe It makes me wanna leave
I'm sick of these tricks up your sleeve
Your suspicious I decieve give me grief without belief but to me
If you really trust me then it's pitiful
Question me about my whereabouts that's so trivial
Let me live my life and you can live yours
Just be there to help me and support that's what your here for
Not to give me stress and add to pressure
Home is where I go the rest I go to pass the test
I'm sorry if I left you all alone
But I couldn't make it home so we argue on the phone
Don't you trust me?

Callin' up my house to hang it up You think that makes sense
Tell me what it takes for us to shake so we can be friends
It's time for us to take our seperate paths
We had a lot of laughs but the good things come to pass
Let's think of the evil break don't make it scandoulous
Try to be mature til your sure that we can handle this

Your sayin I'm too busy I ignore you
I guess you didn't hear me when I said that I cared for you
But now it seems the arguments are nightly
I wanna hold you tightly but instead you wanna fight me
So why let it stress and aggravate me
Instead I'd rather break hope you don't hate me
You tell me that you love me but your lyin'
Fightin back the urge to start cryin'
I wipe away your tears come and hug me
I love you like you love me
Girl...don't you trust me?

I hangup the phone (click)
I can't barely hear you yellin' at me
Maybe we should end it neither one of us are happy
You know that I'm emotional you milk me
Comin' over crying just to get me feelin' guilty
You and me were met to be it yet
You always wanna sweat and how much closer can we get (don't fret)
Just set me back my things and I'll be outie
This time I'm breakin out you let your mouth overcrowd me
I can't take the beefin' and the griefin'
I get no room to sleep I hope it ceases cause I'm leavin'
Maybe next time you'll be a little more sure
When I can give you more when you unsure
But baby until then I gotta leave ya
It's not that I don't need ya but see ya
And I hope that you understand why I bust it
Not becuase we rushed it (hell no)
But girl don't you trust me?

58. Ted Leo
"loyal to my sorrowful country"

No more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country
No more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country

And I've walked from coast to coast,
And I've seen, yes I've seen...
No one's business but my own,
Where I've been, where I've been...

And no more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country
No more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country

In the days when we were young,
We were free, we were free...
Now that Georgie's reign's begun,
We won't be, we can't be...

And no more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country
No more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country.

Though I've lived my bygone years,
In this land, in this land...
I'll uproot it without tears,
and I'll change it if I can!

And, no more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country
No more shall I be, loyal to my sorrowful country

Next up? Dada, the always amusing "Dizz-Knee Land" with the classic line "I just flipped off President George, now I'm going to Dizz-knee land."

Boy, am I happy today.
