Whoa -even David Gergen says he was offended |
|
by the amount of times that Bush kept coming back to references to 911 throughout the speech.
He did say that while he didn't like it, it appears that this has worked for the president (ergo that is why he keeps using it)
Most interesting in the post speech (I saw second run of it on CNN) analysis on CNN - is Paula Zhan - who used to gasp in amazement at any criticisms going into the war *gasp, 'you aren't suggesting that... * But she repeated times the point that bush kept referring to 911 - while there is no evidence linking this. Former cheerleader for bushco and war - was rather skeptical tonight. Interesing.

7. Nah, but Bush is so far gone even they have to report the obvious now |
|
Keep in mind Bush is a lame duck. They don't get any mileage by pimping him now. So they can have some fun with him, and get ready to pimp the locals in 2006.

They may help the Republicans by distancing themselves from Bush, too. If they dump Bush, they can claim he was a bad Republican that even the party never really liked. Might help the next guy not got smeared by Bush's failures.

through. Still turning around and saying some things. But still - some are letting some of their skepticism shines through.

to self-centered. Only offended (implied) that the pres kept trying to make that dog hunt (and implied - that gergen means he was offended because he was being lied to.) But dead Iraqis - nah - no indication that any of these folks have any sense of concern for folks who are not 'just like them'.
