Call me crazy but there's a GHOST living in my bedroom.
And it's trying to hurt me. I was falling asleep the other night and just kind of laying there, when all of a sudden I felt some pressure on my throat. Then it was a little more pressure and I couldn't breath too well. I sat up suddenly and opened my eyes. I looked over next to my bed and SAW SOMETHING. Something black and red. It wasn't an illusion, as it disappeared slowly. I felt afraid and all around me was this air of... anger and hate. I instantly got out of the room and have been sleeping in the living room ever since.

I know that our home is near a military road where some soldiers were ambushed by Native Americans, and I know that some of the dead may be buried on our property.

Advice? I will bearly go in my room anymore. :scared:

2. You can try to tell it to leave
Spirits retain the same demeanor they had in life so you have to talk to it like it is a person.
The thing is, once they know you know they are there, they try to keep up the attention. It really can't "hurt" you, but it can be a pain in the ass. Good luck.

she won't hurt you.

Just summon a bigger ghost, like the ghost of grand-daddy bleep and have that sucka thrashed.

5. Do a purification rite.
Get some dried sage and smudge every corner of the room while chanting an appropriate mantra or healing phrase or other invocation which is personally important to you. Focus your mental energy on light, bright, and healing, and in telling the spirit to go.

It can't hurt, after all.

8. Get a Cleansing/Blessing done
Usually if you go to your local Unitarian Universalist minister they'd be happy to do it in a way that is compatible with your beliefs, whatever those may be. Like the other poster said, couldn't hurt.

It may be sleep paralysis syndrome. Trouble breathing and moving, plus hallucinations.

But I'm thinking more along the lines of sleep apnea and a bad dream.

35. I had that a couple of times
I thought someone was breaking into my house, but I couldn't move. I wasn't really awake, either. I woke up completely a while later, and realized nobody could have been breaking in because my dog was not barking.

The next time it happened, I hallucinated a barking dog, too.

I seem to have these episodes rarely, and in phases. These two incidents happened a couple of years ago, right after I moved into my house. They always seem to occur within a few months of a move, then I don't have them again. I figured it's some combination of psychological and physical factors, having to do with a new environment.

I used to have these a lot as a teenager. It was definitely a psychological thing, then.

11. It may not be a ghost at all
But something much worse. There are many reports of this nature where something, call it what you want, tend to attack women in their sleep. Many times these apparitions are associated with large black birds.

I had a girlfriend who told me about her experience. very chilling.

12. This happened once?
Could be sleep apnea (sp?). It is a constriction of the windpipe that occurs when one lies down. There are a variety of causes, but the big one is being overweight. Acid reflux doesn't help either.

Could you describe what you saw? How long did it take to disappear? What were the lighting conditions in the room?

13. I believe you,
and I would move if I were you.

If you want to fight it, have a priest perform an exorcism. Don't judge the majority of good ones (priests) by the minority of bad ones. Even though it works many times, it's not guaranteed. And most of the time the Church doesn't believe it anyway, there are so many hoaxes, that you really have to convince them. Please, I didn't mean to start an anti-Catholic thread.

Besides the above, if you don't want to do all that, there may be groups or associations of parapsychologists and demonologists who may be so interested in helping you and researching it, they may do it for free.

I don't know about these groups much, but there may also be people who practice white witchcraft, or Wickans, or Pagans who can help, I don't know, though. You have to be careful and selective with everybody (all the) above that I mentioned. It would be easier to just move.

16. It's YOUR freaking house!
Tell the fuckwad to get out if it's going to be an asshole.

Of course, pray to god or the good spirits or whatever, if that makes you feel better, and in all seriousness, it might not be a bad idea to 'go see someone' because, let's face it, not everything people think they see is actually there.

Maybe a redecoration of the room with items that remind you of peace and security and other reassuring things (and a bright nightlight).

But in the end, it's your damn bedroom, in your damn house. Would you let the schoolyard bully force you out of your house? Then don't let some two-bit jerk-off asswipe of an apparition do it (and remember, it *could* just be in your head).

Best of luck, and keep us updated!

21. Sounds like sleep paralysis to me
I have that problem, too. I sort of half wake-up and half dream, and my dreams take on elements of my environment and turn them on their head. Once I was taking a nap while my partner was watching TV. A commercial about Delta became a dream about the ATL airport. I try to wake up, but I can't quite move enough to really get there. My skin tingles and my mouth gets dry. It would be very scary if you're not used to it. There's many solutions to the problem, though. Get yourself to a competent doctor and ask about sleep aids.

27. I used to have experiences that were very strange, and one was a
vision of what looked like a person and it too disappeared slowly. The house where I saw it was "cleansed" as people are mentioning here. I know everyone tends to laugh at stuff like this but it is scary when it happens to you. I think I used to be more sensitive than I am now. Get some friends over, sit in the room with them. Have some sort of ritual. Something that has a sense of understanding towards what this spirit, if it is one, may be going through. Ask it to leave and find rest elsewhere. I think you need to come out in the open to it. De-mystify the interaction. Confront it with friends. Ask the "universe" for help too. Let us know what happens.

Shortness of breath, paralysis, sensing the presence of some kind oppressive "thing," are all symptoms of night terrors.

against it, the more pressure it would exert until I felt like I was being choked to death. It really seemed like some evil entity. After a while, I started to relax and not fight against it and it eventually went away.

30. Ghosts
Hmm, not Casper the Friendly Ghost, that's for sure. My stepdaughter had a similar problem with an entity that was bothering her in her home. I made up small protective charm bags for her to put by the front and the back doors with frankincense, myrrh, sea salt, a sea shell and a small quartz crystal. I charged them with Reiki for protection and wrote a brief house cleansing/blessing ritual for her to do. I also gave her a larger quartz crystal that I charged for house and personal protection and which I can connect to and send Reiki energy to for added protection. She reported a week or so ago that her entity was gone. I liked the suggestion of smudging the house and the room with sage. It's very cleansing. If you are of a specific religious persuasion, you might want to talk to your clergy person about doing a house blessing. Then keep a symbol of your religious faith somewhere in the house, or the room if you prefer, that has been blessed for peace and protection. You can draw on its energy for strength and security.

Amazing! That wonderful modern tool, the Internet, used to pass along some of the oldest and most pathetic rubbish in human history.

But as always, if any of you can REALLY prove your ghost story, you can collect $1 MILLION DOLLARS. Just go here:

34. Do you know how to meditate?
Regardless of whether it is a spirit, a bad dream, sleep apnea, what have you, this has obviously gotten you stressed out.

I suggest drinking some chamomile tea or warm milk, or something like that to help you calm down, and try to meditate for a while before you're ready for bed. Best thing to do, no matter what the problem is, is get the stress and bad vibes out of your system the best you can to prepare for sleep. And then see what happens...

A "happy place" is actually a very good thing to meditate on. It can lower your stress level and bring you a bit of much needed peace, and overall lift your mood.

I'll check up on a local docter to see if I have sleep problems.

The other night out in the living room, I also had problems breathing, like I had to actually do it, that it wasn't just a manual thing that takes care of itself.

Peace.
